Paul Chupik

Obituary of Paul Chupik

It is with utter devastation that the family of the late Paul William Chupik announce his untimely passing on Tuesday, March 5th in Yorkton, SK.  Paul was 64 years old at the time of his death.  Paul was a husband, a father, a grandpa, a brother and friend to many.

Paul leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Susan Chupik (nee Kahoot) daughters Wendy (Seth, Hudson and Mikayla) and Lori.  He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Verna Chupik, sister Donna Fehler and niece Patricia and nephew Michael.

Paul was born in Canora, SK to Bill (William) and Verna Chupik.  He grew up on a farm near Danbury, SK with his siblings Daniel (Val), Raymond (Val), Bernadette (Allan), Marie Anne (Bert), Donna (Bernie), and Julian (Bonny).  He was an inquisitive youngster and dismantled and reassembled things just to see how they worked.   Many shenanigans happened on the farm and no doubt he caused his mother to go Gray prematurely and got his siblings into mischief.

He attended school in Danbury and Sturgis and ended up meeting the love of his life, Susan, at a school dance in Canora.  They got married in Hyas in 1978, a short while later their daughter Wendy was born, and a couple of years later, their daughter Lori followed.  Paul was oh so proud of his girls and would boast to anyone who would listen.

Paul had many talents, he worked at Clark roofing, and then at Leon’s manufacturing for 25 years.  He also farmed and helped out with catering.  Over his life span he literally helped thousands of people, no job was too big or too small.  Whether you needed an oil change, engine rebuilt or new shingles, Paul was always there to help and could be counted on for anything.

Although he only had a grade 8 education, the man was truly brilliant! His motto was go big or go home, and he ALWAYS went big!!  Whether it be a 20 foot swing, a zip line, an adult sized merry go round that seats 6 with a firepit in the middle, the Mars Rover or the house he built with Susie from the ground up, let me tell you- no tornado will tear that house down.  Everything he did needed to be extravagant and larger than life with a quality that was second to none.  That being said he was a very humble man and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.  Right up until his death you could find a pair of pliers in his pocket.

When Paul wasn’t working or building (which was rare), he enjoyed riding his motorcycles, sitting by the fires, treks to the bush and traveling.  His favorite place was Hawaii and ultimately he wanted to move there.  A portion of his ashes will be spread on the island at a later date.

Even though Paul was a busy man, he always had time for a coffee…. Always!! Come in for a coffee was a well used phrase for him, it was rare that they didn’t have a pot brewing.  Grandpa Paul always had time to spoil and spend time with his precious grandson Hudson.  Whether it was a quad ride to the camper, witching for water, a push on the slide or zip line, or a trip to McDonald’s, grandpa was wrapped around Hudson’s finger, and he wouldn’t want it any other way!

It is difficult to summarize such an amazing and fulfilling life into a few paragraphs.  He impacted so many lives in a positive way, those who were fortunate enough to have Paul in their life were truly blessed.
