Paul was definitely a unique and amazing person. I remember the same things as Andrew that Paul was also inventing and building. I am surprised that we all survived our childhood. I remember the twine hammocks and the rafts that we build to go on the sloughs in springtime. He definitely made growing up on the farm very interesting and adventurous. He also had a great sense of humour and could always make you laugh. He was compassionate, friendly and always willing to help anyone out. My condolences and deepest sympathy to Susan, Paul's girls and grandson and Paul's siblings. May he rest in peace.

I have many memories with Paul. Building hammocks with used baler twine that were 15 feet up in the trees, and spending summer nights sleeping there. Don’t remember anyone falling out. He built a “shocker box”, where a bunch of us kids would hold hands in a circle and he would shock us to see who would chicken out and let go first! One winter we removed snow off the barn lean-to, then threw a rope around the rooftop vent, and pulled up the wooden toboggan to the top. We slid down from the rooftop of that barn. What fun! Till Uncle Bill saw us doing that. He gave us kids (we were 11 or 12 years old) a good spanking! He told us we could have slid backwards and go down the steep side of the barn and get hurt! Will never forget that! At age 14 we got into a new business adventure together. The home-brew business. Built our first still from a metal peanut butter can. Used another can with a gas-soaked toilet paper roll in it for our heat source. Uncle Bill caught us again hiding in the old thrashing machine. He gave us heck!!! Told us we could have poisoned ourselves if we had used lead solder on the copper tubing. We never got heck for making brew, just to make sure we do it right! Then Paul built a bigger still from a cream can! We were in business then! We gutted out the old blue car and had the seats facing each other. We moved that car to the bush pasture north of their yard. This was our new hideout. We ran off the first big batch of brew there. All us cousins had a great time! The car is even still there to this day. Some of Paul’s most scary inventions were: the fire-cracker cane gun, the propeller powered go cart, the motorized paddle wheel raft, and the key-stone mini bike with the motor that did 50 mph! Paul also made a 12 volt alcohol dispenser with windshield washer motors. That was pretty cool. He installed it in his car glovebox. Sure was handy when we went to the drive in theatre. It was fun growing up with him. He was an amazing inventor and created so many things. I will cherish these memories for the rest of my life. Paul, thank you for all the great times we had. May God grant you eternal peace.

Dear Susan and family
We were so sad to hear of Paul's passing. "I will always remember the many happy times I had as a child playing with Paul and Andrew and getting into trouble trying out one of Paul's new inventions as a trio at Aunt Helen's and Baba and Gido's. Paul was always the spokesman who was able to talk our way out of trouble."
May you have strength and support from the love of family and friends during this very sad and tragic time. We are thinking of you and send our prayers.
Your Cousin
Christene Evanochko/ Graham Smart

We are saddened by the loss of your father and husband. Paul was a wonderful man, and many times we say this when someone passes, but he truly was one of those rare people who touched your heart with his caring manner, always loved joking and we had many, many good times together. We will miss him very much and send all our love to you Susan, Wendy and family and Lori.
