It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lynne Kathleen Brand, nee Weiss on Sunday, April 30, 2023. Lynne is survived by her husband Doug, her three children Kelly (Kyle Sedgwick), Geoff (Angie Brand), and Shannon (Giacomo Grassi), her four grandchildren Julia, Thomas, Miles and Macy, her siblings and their partners, David Weiss, Murray Weiss, Cheryl Weger and Kim Turn, her brothers in law and their partners, Darrell and Brian Brand as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Johnny and Adele Weiss, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Don and Margaret Brand and her sister-in-law Joanne Weiss.

Lynne was the oldest of 5 children and was born on October 13, 1952. She grew up on a farm outside of Langenburg Saskatchewan and was an active member of the Local 4H. She moved to Regina where she attended the University of Regina and completed her teaching certificate. She began her teaching career in Yorkton in 1972 and while she took a short hiatus, teaching was her true passion. She worked at many of the public schools in Yorkton throughout her career and taught everything from kindergarten all the way to high school. Lynne retired in 2013 from the Yorkton Regional High School where she taught English for many years.

Although Lynne experienced many years of health challenges, she always remained positive and was determined to live her life to the fullest. She enjoyed traveling to Hawaii with family, Fernie ski trips, adventures to South Africa and a tour of Route 66.

Family was always the most important thing to Lynne and the lessons and love she shared with them will live on in her children and grandchildren as well as the generations to come.

Our family would like to express our sincerest gratitude to the many dialysis nurses that took such good care of Mom over the years. And the incredible ICU nurses who provided Mom and our entire family with exceptional care and compassion in Mom’s final hours.

To Cheryl, our personal angel who has been by our families side throughout Mom’s medical journey. A phenomenal nurse practitioner, sister and aunt to whom we could never adequately express our gratitude, appreciation and love.
