Lynne was my memorable grade two teacher at Columbia long ago. She was kind but firm and made school life fun and enjoyable for all. Her 'Arabian princess riding a camel' Halloween costume was one for the books. Meeting Geoff on our farm decades later, it wasn't hard to tell she'd taught her own children well. Wishing you all the comfort of wonderful memories and strength for lonely days ahead as you miss her bright spirit.

Lynne was an absolute treasure as a friend and as a colleague. Lynne was an amazing spirit who loved her family deeply and extended that nurturing spirit to her friendships and to her calling as a teacher. Her approach was the perfect balance of compassion and "no-nonsense", always encouraging others to keep going because "the sun will come up tomorrow." She lived her philosophy of resiliency and was admired, respected and loved by her students and those of us who were blessed to call her friend and colleague. When I covered her classes in 2013, daily the students asked after Mrs. Brand. They couldn't wait until she was well enough to come and visit them before the end of the school year. The outpouring of love on that day was heartwarming! She was a significant figure in the lives of countless students including Allison and
Terri-Lynn, who loved Mrs. Brand and along with us will remember her fondly. She faced adversity with grace and dignity and will always be an inspiration and source of strength to us through her incredible example of a life well-lived. Blessings to Doug and the family as you journey forward remembering Lynne and celebrating her life. Her legacy lives on in her wonderful family. Rest in peace, dear friend.
Sincere sympathy from Terri, Allan, Allison and Terri-Lynn Mitchell

Sending my Condolences to Doug and family. Lynne and I were best of friends during high school. I was always so grateful for our friendship, me being that shy one, I appreciated everything we did together. I admired Lynne! Although we seldom seen each other after high school, I have many memories, one favourite, was her wedding in the tiny church at Gerald. I was fortunate to reconnect with Lynne on Facebook several years ago, what a nice way to stay in contact with friends. Rest in peace Lynne .

We met Lynne on our first visit to Canada in 2015. We came away so gratefull that Angie was now part of a warm, loving family, and in particular she had a Mom in Canada.
Her visit to South Africa was really special. Lynne was interested in everything. She had a wildlife experience and a dip in the Indian Ocean amongst many other memorable times.
Lynne was goodness personified.
No stranger to many health challenges, she appeared to cope with it all. Always a ready smile, engaging with people and an endless supply of some or other delectable treat. She was a person you felt you had known for ever. Rest in peace Lynne. We are priviledged to have known you.

I first met Lynne through the church and enjoyed being a part of the WOW group (Women of Westview) with her for many years. She was always very dedicated and very welcoming when we had meetings in her home and would prepare some of her best treats to share. Yum! I will always remember her kind smile and her positive outlook despite her later health struggles. She truly was a lovely lady.

Our condolences to you, Doug, Kelly, Geoff, Shannon and your families. We know family was the most important thing to Lynne and we know you will carry on her legacy by staying close to one another. Lynne was also the best baker (I have several of her recipes) and cook; she was kind and always willing to help with any function. Lynne was a well-read intellectual who could deliver the most eloquent and heartwarming speech. Lynne always made everyone welcome and comfortable. She will be missed.
May your memories sustain you knowing that her suffering is over.
Sending Love and Hugs to all!

O my goodness! Memories of/with Lynne…let’s start young with visiting on the farm and being taken out to view the cat cemetery!!My family didn’t do that so I was a bit intrigued. Floating on a raft behind the house and getting super wet. 4-H get together with the Gerald Sew and Sews. Being in big trouble at school(Karlsruhe) and Lynne telling the teacher “ It was my fault”. Will always remember her courage and honesty. Then came university: I would’ve never found my way around if Lynne hadn’t guided me. Great times as roommates…lots of talks to the wee hours. Hashing out Protestantism and Catholicism. Both of us going to our first jobs and comparing. Lynne deciding to gift her kidney. Your wedding and the ways our lives journeyed on. However few, our visits were always a great catch up. I could go on but all the memories were wrapped with her zest for life, her positivity, her courage and her loyalty and unconditional love. I have been blessed to have had Lynne in my life.

Our hearts go out to you Doug and family. Lynne has always been such a good soul. We know how deeply she loved you all which came thru whenever she talked about her family. She also always had an unique quality of welcoming, accepting and making the person she was talking to feel good about themselves and what they had done. I was very lucky to share our UCW and church days together and most of all share our families’ stories and watch our “Shannons” grow up together . With Lynne it never mattered how long since we had seen each other, the conversation flowed as if we had talked the day before. I always left thinking what a wonderful smile, what a wonderful lady. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all. Love Karen, Darrell Landels and family.
