Obituary of Veronica Wenc

WENC - Veronica was born July 19, 1946 at Foam Lake Saskatchewan to William (Bill) and Mary (Karapita) Wenc. Raised on the family farm established in 1908 in the Beckenham Parish District, she excelled at Winthorpe School and Foam Lake Composite High. In 1966, she embarked in a career with the Royal Bank of Canada in Ituna, Saskatchewan that came to a premature conclusion in 2010 due to health issues. Although her banking career remained in the forefront, Veronica embarked on an equal and parallel career in farming in the 1980s, in conjunction with her father Bill (predeceased 1991) and brother Ray, she remained vested in farming operations, and continued to reside on the farm with her mother until her passing. Veronica's life is only partially defined by her career, but her essence is established in her commitment to strengthening the community and its members. During her careers, she worked on several community minded projects. In each instance she strived for the preservation and sharing of historical/cultural knowledge, and capitalized on every opportunity that could benefit the region. Her multiple personal passions were equally diverse and unique. Mourning Veronica's passing are her mother Mary, brothers Ray (Anita) of Ituna; Dennis of Kelowna BC; niece Katya (Ituna/Regina); nephews: Curtis (Calgary), Jason (Regina), Lee (Vancouver) and grand-nephews Carson and Tyler. Her life was short, but her memory and legacies are indelible. Prayer services were held on Tuesday evening, January 28th 2014 and the Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Wednesday morning, January 29th 2014, all from Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna with Very Rev. Father Boris Kyba C.Ss.R as Celebrant. The crossbearer & epistle reader was Katya Wenc. Honorary bearers were Valerie Yariwon, Sharon Wendz, Lorraine Davyduke, Bernadette Bereziuk, Diane Braden and Maxine Lawrenz. The interment took place in the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery with Jason Wenc, Eric Lawrenz, Edwin Karapita, Eugene Wenc, Dennis Premak and Gerald Peesker serving as the casketbearers. Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.
