Obituary of Adella Leontowicz

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Adella Leontowicz, age 92, on December 19th 2019. Adella was born in Theodore, Sk. She was the oldest of six children born to John and Mary Kwasnitza. She attended Creekside School and loved it so much she thought about becoming a teacher. However, at the tender age of 18 she fell in love with Alex and all thoughts of becoming a teacher went by the wayside. Adella and Alex were married on July 21, 1946 and together raised a family and farmed in the Ituna District. Adella cherished her family and spent many hours in the kitchen mastering her cooking skills. She became an exquisite cook and the family always looked forward to family gatherings. Adella took pride in her role as a homemaker. She was an exquisite cook, successful gardener, skilled seamstress, a ruthless Kaiser player, and enjoyed games of chance. Her family was the joy of her life. She was very proud of her boys but when the grandchildren started arriving her priorities changed. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved when they came to visit. She was an active UCWL member for many years and was involved in many other community activities. Adella & Alex retired and moved to a condo at St. Volodymyr Villa. She enjoyed the activities and the social life of the close knit community and made many new friends. She was a faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church and St. Volodymyr Villa chapel. Adella will be fondly and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Adella is survived by sons Ron (Diane), Ken (Marilyn), Morris (Donna), Darrell (Sharon), Terry, Tim (Denise); nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, brothers Jim and Henry. Adella was predeceased by her husband Alex, son David, grandson Kurt, sister Carol, brothers Stanley and Orest. Prayers were held on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at St. Volodymyr Villa in Saskatoon. The Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Monday, December 23, 2019 from Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna with Fr. Basil Malowaney as Celebrant, Cantors, Wayne Boczulak, Heidi Spilchak & Lader Moskal led in the responses. The Crossbearer was Kerry Chase, the Epistle-Reader was Erin Bowman. The interment took place in the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery with Terry, Chase & Craig Leontowicz, Tanner Schmidt, Matt Sherr and Matt Bowman serving as the casketbearers.
