Obituary of Lucille "Lucy" Mae Saretsky

The family of Lucille "Lucy" Saretsky of Theodore, SK., beloved wife of Wilf Saretsky and daughter of Vernon and Nora Aaserude of Theodore, SK., sadly announce her passing on August 27, 2020 at the age of 57 years. A family memorial service was held. Memorial donations in memory of Lucy may be made to the Saskatoon Downtown Youth Centre INC, 600 Queen St., Saskatoon, SK S7K 0M8 or to Man-Sask Conference SDA Camp Whitesands, 1004 Victoria Ave., Saskatoon, SK. S7N 0Z8 as gifts of remembrance. Lucille Mae Aaserude was born to Vernon and Nora Aaserude on July 17 1963 in Spirit River Alberta. She was the fourth of five children. As a child she and her family moved several times, from lumber mill towns to logging camps to a farm on the prairies. Lucy had a real connection with animals and elder folks in her younger years. Her happy and joyful personality was reflected in the smile that was always on her face. Lucy's son Willie was her pride and joy. Later in her life she met and married Wilfred Saretsky, the man who had become her best friend and constant companion. Lucy and Wilfred had a very special relationship that most married couples could be envious of. Her love for her family brought her to Theodore to be close to her elderly parents and Wilfred's brothers and sisters. Children were drawn to Lucy and there was a group of them that would gather with her and her parents every Sunday for crafts and games. She saw this as an opportunity to witness for her Lord, and she would pray with and for the children, encouraging them to share their prayer requests. Lucy LOVED to hold babies and when the opportunity would present itself she took full advantage of it and would then talk about how she had gotten her "baby fix". She was creative and talented and when her parents bought a piano, she taught herself to play in her early teens. Many hours were spent with family singsongs around the piano with Lucy playing. Nephew Rob Scott and niece Christie Radosh fondly remember as children, visiting her in Rabbit Lake, Saskatchewan on their summer vacations. Auntie Lucy would take them on the back country roads and would teach them to drive. What a thrill they thought that was! She so enjoyed having the kids in the back seat of her car and going fast down the bumpy back roads. She called them butterfly roads because the kids would get butterflies in their tummies. The fact she could be wrecking her car was totally outweighed by the squeals of delight coming from the back seat and the joy of being with them. Her niece Daniela happily accompanied her Auntie Lucy and her family on vacation to Disneyland. Many happy memories were made on that trip. All the children remember camping and fishing with Auntie Lucy. She never lost her love for fishing and the outdoors. Lucille passed to her rest in Christ at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina on August 27, 2020. She leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband, Wilfred Saretsky, son William Everette Smith, parents Nora and Vern Aaserude, sisters Connie (Doug) Giesbrecht, Fern(Robert) Scott, Maxine (Don) Miller, brother Ron Aaserude, sisters-in-law, Lauraine Saretsky, Stella (Barry) Berglund, Norma Saretsky and brother-in-law Leo Saretsky, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends. A small group of family and friends gathered for a memorial for Lucy on August 31 2020 at her parents' house in Theodore Saskatchewan. Service Details.
