Obituary of Violet Hnatuk

The family of Violet Hnatuk of Yorkton, widow of Andrew Hnatuk sadly announce her passing on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the age of 92 years. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 18, at 10:00a.m. at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church Current Public Health guidelines will be followed and masks are mandatory. Memorials in memory of Violet may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Saskatchewan Branch 1-2217 Hanselman Court, Saskatoon, SK S7L 6A8 Violet was born in May, 1928 in Insinger, daughter of John and Patricia (nee Daciw) Moldowan. She attended school in Insinger until Grade 10, then later attended Grade 11 & 12 at Sacred Heart High School in Yorkton. After graduation she went to Teachers College where she obtained her Teaching Certificate. This included university classes in attendance & correspondence classes at home. She taught school at Tuffnell, Insinger, Yemen and Theodore to a maximum of 26 years. In 1949 she married her childhood sweetheart, Andy and they raised 2 children, Dale & Colleen. Andy & Violet bought a Massey Harris Implement business and Shell Fuel at Insinger and operated it for 7 years. Then they purchased more land and moved to the farm. She helped with the farming operations, teaching and raising a family. She loved gardening and especially growing her flowers which decorated their farm yard. She loved ceramics and her yard was engulfed with ceramic animals of all kinds. After Andy's death in May, 2011, their farm was auctioned off and she moved to her former school grounds, Sacred Heart, which is now called Gladstone Seniors Residence. She loved it there, it was home again with her 65 loving friends.
