Vickie Sebulsky

Obituary of Vickie Sebulsky

The family of Vickie Sebulsky, beloved wife of the late Eugene Sebulsky, of Yorkton, sadly announce her passing on January 10, 2025. She was 86 years of age.

Vickie (Victoria) Sebulsky was born in Canora, SK, the youngest of six children born to Metro and Elizabeth (Moskaluke) Letwenuk. When Vickie was an infant, the family moved to Foam Lake and this is where she grew up and attended school.

Vickie and her sister Olga had a very close and special bond growing up. Our Mom and Dad frequently took us to Fishing Lake, after all the chores were done, where Dad would give us swimming lessons and taught us how to cast for fish from the shore.

Vickie worked in a restaurant and at the dry cleaners before starting at Saskatchewan Government Telephones as a telephone operator – as it was called then.

Vickie met Eugene at a dance in Sheho. They were married on July 29, 1960, in Foam Lake, and this is where they started their life together.

In 1964, Foam Lake Government Telephones converted to dial telephones and Vickie transferred to Yorkton, working as a telephone operator and then supervisor with operator services. In 1987, Vickie was transferred to the business office for a short period, then to supervisor administration before retiring in 1989, which allowed her to spend some quality time with her sister Olga who was diagnosed with cancer.

Vickie took up sewing and spent hours at her machine (her happy time) sewing for Eugene and herself plus family and friends. She loved her garden and flowers winning second place for her backyard one year.

Vickie took up curling and curled in many fun and competitive events over the years. She tried her hand at golf and bowling, but realized that curling was her passion.

Going to York Lake was a must most weekends, packing picnic lunches, and later camping with friends at Good Spirit Lake.

Vickie and Eugene enjoyed travelling, exploring many places in Mexico and their inter-island flights of the Hawaii Islands, Elvis’s Graceland, Nashville, and Padre Island just to name a few. After getting our condo in Banff, Vickie and Eugene spent most of their leisure time at Banff. Our 21-day Alaska Cruise was truly superb. When Vickie was retired and Eugene was expanding his farming business, she worked along his side, helping him achieve his dream. She could and did operate all the equipment – except the swather, which was a NO NO!

Vickie was predeceased by her husband Eugene; Dad Metro; Mom Elizabeth; brothers Michael, John, and Bill; and sisters Jennie and Olga.

Vickie is survived by three nieces Michelle (David) Stuckel, Melanie Paproski (Kelly), Maurie (Derek) Andrew; nephew Terry (Caroline) Allison; as well as several cousins.
