Obituary of Archie Arnott
The family of Archie Arnott, widower of Nest Arnott, resident of the Yorkton & District Nursing Home sadly announce his passing on Thursday, November 28th 2024. He was 98 years of age.
Cremation has taken place, a memorial service is being planned for the spring of 2025. Donations in memory of Archie may be made to a Cancer Foundation of your choice or to the Yorkton Regional Health Centre.
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great grandfather Archie Ernest Arnott on November 28, 2024. Archie was predeceased by his loving wife Nest on September 20, 2000. He is survived by his son Archie Lynn (JoAnne), grandchildren Shauna (Jonathan), great-grandchildren Ishbel and Dax; John and great-grandchildren Katrina, Conor, Arika; and by his daughter Cindy (Michael), grandchildren Graeme (Danielle) and Rebecca (Greg), great grandchildren Emmeline and Pierce.
Archie was born in the Kinbrae area of Saskatchewan. After leaving school he began farming near Atwater, Saskatchewan. During the farming years he also began employment at a potash mine near Esterhazy, Saskatchewan. In 1976 the farm was sold and Archie and Nest moved to Yorkton where Archie worked as a tax assessor for the City of Yorkton until this retirement in 1991.
In his youth Archie was an avid baseball player. He had a lifelong love of fishing and being on the water. After the move to Yorkton, Archie purchased a lakefront lot at Canora Beach on Good Spirit Lake and began the years long construction of his beloved cabin. He and Nest spent many happy years there and it remains a favourite family place. Archie was a founding member of the Yorkton Optimist Club through which he formed many friendships during his years of service. Curling was a passion for Archie throughout his lifetime. He curled regularly into his eighties, enjoying both the social and competitive aspects of the game.
The family extends thanks to the staff at the Yorkton and District Nursing Home for the care given to Archie during his years there.
