Eugene Sebulsky

Obituary of Eugene Sebulsky

Eugene was born in Sheho, the older son of Nick and Ella (Dumanski) Sebulsky. This is where he grew up and attended school. His first job was working with Well’s Construction when they were building Highway #16. This is when he met and married Vickie in Foam Lake on July 29, 1960. Foam Lake was their home and Eugene worked for two General Motor dealerships, before building his house and moving to Yorkton in 1966.

Eugene purchased his own gravel truck and worked at various places hauling gravel. On weekends he loved going to the lake and has many fun times camping at Good Spirit Lake with friends. During winter months, Eugene and Vickie travelled Hawaii, Mexico, Texas, Florida, Arizona, and Las Vegas several times. Driving to Mazatland, Mexico, by motor home with friends was quite an experience to say the least. He tried to spend as much time as possible at their condo in Banff, AB. He thoroughly enjoyed his Alaska cruise trip and kept saying, “I want to go again.”

Through hard work and perseverance, Eugene found the job that suited his character and abilities – that job being a farmer. He followed his dream and purchased his first quarter of land in 1966, and from there expanded his farming business on his own. This took a lot of hard work and he gave up most of his leisure time. Eugene loved the land and to him it was not just a job, it was a whole lifestyle and something he had built and accomplished by himself over a lifetime.

Eugene was very proud of his achievement, setting up his yard and expanding his farm land, and receiving the Century Farm Award. It was very difficult for him to let go of farming due to failing health, as truly the farm was his happy place.

Eugene was predeceased by his father Nick, mother Ella, and his only sibling Morris.

He is survived by his beloved wife Vickie; nieces Michelle (David) Stuckel, Melanie (Kelly) Paproski and Maurie (Derek) Andrew; nephew Terry (Caroline) Allison; cousins Julian (Evelyn) Dumanski, Emily Korpatniski, Hilda (Al) Anderson and Marilyn Theisen.
