Maxine Marion Paydli was born On March 1, 1939, in Calgary, Alberta. She grew up in High River, Alberta. She met and married Dave Germscheid and had 4 children with him, then divorced shortly after that. She went on to get her GED, then complete her Certified Nurses Assistant diploma.
She met Joseph Paydli in 1970 in a nightclub. Joe was immediately smitten with Maxine and asked for her number. She gave him her number, but Dad didn’t write it down, so Mom asked, “Aren’t you going to write that down?” Dad replied “No, I’ll remember it”. They married on August 18, 1972. Shortly after that Joe adopted the 4 children and raised them as his own.
Mom worked as a CNA at the Yorkton Regional Hospital. Her dream was to go back to school and become an RN. after all the kids had left the nest, however, a back injury took her into early retirement.
Mom embraced her early retirement and found lots of things to fill her time. She loved to go on vacations with Dad, especially if they involved a fancy cruise ship. Mom and Dad traveled to so many places including Mexico, Hawaii, Caribbean, and Europe. She loved to crochet and knit and if you were lucky enough, you would get a bedspread or afghan.
She enjoyed watching sports, especially if they involved the Saskatchewan Roughriders or the Toronto Blue Jays. After Dad passed away, Lorraine Slogoski became her new partner to watch football games with.
Mom was a member of the CWL and an active member of the Red Hats Society. She loved the many adventures of that group, getting dressed up and wearing the hats.
Mom and Dad were active members of Engaged and Marriage Encounter, and St. Gerard’s Parish.
After Dad passed away, she was lonely but found comfort in new friends and activities. On Sunday, October 27, Mom joined Dad in everlasting life.
