Obituary of Angela Murphy
Angela “Angie” Maria Murphy, 66, of Yorkton, SK, passed away on October 28th, 2024 in Yorkton.
Angela was born in Halifax, NS to Geraldine Frances (Millard) Dedrick and Delbert Keith Murphy on September 20th, 1958. She went to school at South Armdale Elementary, Major Steven Junior High, and St. Agnes Junior High. You would find her at some of her favourite places like Chocolate Lake, the Dingle, Horseshoe Island, Point Pleasant Park or even the Green Dory Tavern. She worked for Park Haven Estates up until the car accident that almost took her life, February 21st, 1981. Her stubbornness and strength didn't allow her to give up. Soon after she met and married Danny MacDonald, they had two girls, Mariah and Vanessa. A few years later they moved to Kingston, ON. Even though their love didn’t last, Angela’s love for her daughters only grew stronger. When her daughters grew up and moved out West, Halifax and her family called her back where she lived for a few years. Angela always cherished her time spent with her mom and many brothers and sisters. Angela knew there was no other place to be than with her daughters, so she moved out to Saskatchewan to be with them and their growing families. She didn’t want to miss another moment of her grandchildren’s lives. You could HEAR her shouting and her famous whistle supporting all the grandkids' activities, whether it was poolside for artistic swimming, front row at dance recitals and cheer competitions, on the sidelines at the football games, in the stands at the hockey games, and at the ball diamonds. Her daughters have many memories they will cherish of their mom, whether it was just sitting and talking about the good old days, having random oldies sing-alongs and dance sessions, doing puzzles together, playing (losing) Gin and Yahtzee. Her family and friends will remember Angela for her strength, sense of humour and big heart.
Angela will lovingly be remembered by her daughter Mariah (Stephen) and their children Bailey, Casey and Cameron, her daughter Vanessa (Darren) and their children, Wyatt (Lindsey), Dalton, and Chase, her siblings, Ronnie, Frank (Linda), Heather, Bob (Ronda), David, Paul (Wanda), Margie (Barry), Colleen, and all her nephews and nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces, and her good friends. She is predeceased by her mother Geraldine Dedrick, father Delbert Murphy, brothers Jim, Tom, and sister Ellie.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Regina Cancer Patient Lodge for their exceptional services during her cancer journey, to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, the Telemiracle Kinsmen Foundation, and Bailey’s Funeral Home & Cremation Care.
