Obituary of Gordon Guenther
The Lord brought Gordon Guenther to life through Jack and Molly (Peppler) Guenther on March 21, 1939 in the Yorkton Hospital. While surrounded by the love of his family, the Lord took Gordon on October 27, 2024 at the Regina General Hospital.
Gordon was baptized on April 23, 1939 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Stornoway, Saskatchewan and affirmed his baptismal vows through confirmation on October 26, 1952 at Stornoway, Saskatchewan.
Gordon received his education at Stornoway, Saskatchewan. He then stayed home and helped on the farm, and worked at Beaver Lumber and E.H Construction.
In 1965, he met the love of his life Beatrice Adam. They were married on October 28, 1966 at Zion Lutheran Church in Yorkton, Saskatchewan.
In 1967, Gordon and Beatrice started grain and cattle farming. In the winter months he worked at Morris Rod Weeder. Together Gordon and Beatrice worked side by side on the farm. They welcomed their first son Bradley on October 14, 1967 and their second son Trent on May 2, 1970. Gordon enjoyed having his sons working alongside with him, taking over the farm.
Gordon enjoyed fishing, visiting and going to auction sales, especially going once a month to Great Plains Auction in Regina. Gordon and Beatrice enjoyed going crop checking, especially at harvest time and dropping in at the neighbors for coffee. He was always happy to help his neighbors with any help.
Gordon loved and enjoyed visits from all his children and grandchildren and hearing about their daily lives. He looked forward to hearing from the boys and what is going on at the farm.
Gordon was predeceased by his mother Molly (January 19, 1958), father Jack (June 19, 1972), brother Lawrence (December 15, 1934), sister Esther Docking (April 22, 2011), brother-in-law’s Elmer Propp (June 18, 1999), Garth Docking (July 1, 2008), and twin granddaughters Terri and Kerri Guenther (May 18, 1994).
Gordon is survived by his wife Beatrice, his sons Bradley (Darlene) and Trent (Tanya), his grandchildren; Jessica and Bo Chiasson, Brett and Haley Guenther, and Taryn Guenther, his sister Joyce Propp as well as many nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from Zion Lutheran Church, with Pastor Kai Buck officiating. Organist Luanne Malinowski led the congregation in the hymns.The interment followed in the Garden of St. Mark, Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Brett Guenther, Bo Chiasson, Tony Malinowski, Robert Propp, Conrad Schwartz and Allan Wheeler serving as casket bearers.
Memorial donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or to the Kidney Foundation as gifts of remembrance.
