Obituary of Alex Ivan

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Alex Ivan on October 8th, 2024 at the age of 94. Alex was born in 1930 in of all places a railway station to Louis and Mary Ivan.

Alex met the love of his life Helen in 1952 and were married for 70 years. Alex will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and love of his family. One memory we will always have of dad is his selfless help he would offer to anyone in need.

Alex worked for the CNR for 37 years in various positions and retired in 1987. Upon his retirement he fixed everything in the house 4 times, then he moved on to fishing. Dad was also a voracious reader in his quest for knowledge. 

Alex was predeceased by his parents and his brother Steve and  sister-in-law Anne. Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Helen , his children  Doug, Karen (Terence)

and his 3 fabulous grandchildren  Meagan, Alexa and Lauren .

A special debt of gratitude to the staff at Jowsey House for the amazing care dad received in his final journey.

The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from Zion Lutheran Church, Yorkton, Saskatchewan with Pastor Kai Buck officiating. Accompanist Verna Liebrecht led the congregation in the hymns. Grandchildren Meagan, Alexa, and Lauren acted as honourary pallbearers. The internment followed in the Garden of St. Mark, Yorkton Memorial Gardens.
