Obituary of Ann Froese

The family of Ann Froese of Yorkton sadly announces her passing on September 14, 2024. Ann was 89 years of age.

The Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 23 at 2:00 p.m. from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre.

The interment will follow in the Garden of Memories, Yorkton Memorial Gardens.

Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan as gifts of remembrance.

Ann Angela Froese who is also affectionally known as Mom, Grammie, Great Grandma, Aunt, Friend, Co-op Grandma and homemaker passed away peacefully in her sleep at Malinowski House, Yorkton, SK on September 14, 2024 at the age of 89 years.

Ann was born to Victor and Teenie Dowalatek on December 20, 1934 in Oakburn, Manitoba. Following the passing of her parents, when Ann was 15 years old, she went to live with her brother Bernard and his wife Alice. At the age of 17 years old she went to live with her sister Frances. She met Robert Froese when she was 18 years old. They married and had three children, William, Denise and Valerie. They later divorced.

Ann attended Oakburn School in Manitoba until grade six. Later in life she worked as a server in a café in Brandon, MB for five years.

Mom raised her children in Prince Albert, SK where she met her second husband. They moved to Uranium City where she cleaned an office at the mine and then later she worked at the café in town from 1975 - 1976. They moved back to Yorkton and divorced. She lived with her son until her fall at which time she became a resident at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home where she resided until her passing.

Mom enjoyed going for walks, garage sales and embroidery. She enjoyed making cabbage rolls, perogies and chili for family and friends. She loved spending time with her granddaughters Brandy and Sara, her great granddaughter Valliann as well a family and friends.

Ann is survived by her son William Froese, her daughter Denise (Lionel) McRae, granddaughter Sara Trowell, great granddaughter Valliann Maserek and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Victor and Teenie Dowalatek; her sisters Mary, Stella, Victoria, Agnes, Frances and Rose; her brothers Bernard, Frank and Stanley; her daughter Valerie Balyx and her granddaughter Brandy Maserek.
