Inez Carlson

Obituary of Inez Eleanore Carlson

Inez Eleanore Carlson was born on February 9, 1931 in the Willowbrook district of Saskatchewan, a daughter of Ingeborg (nee Olaffson) and Earl Olson.  She was raised on the family farm and attended the Radimno, Lookout, Cherryfield, and Happy Centre Schools.  On June 2, 1950 she was united in marriage to Raymond Victor Carlson at the Swedish Covenant Church at Willowbrook.  Due to illness in the family, she went out to work at an early age.  She was employed as a clerk at Atkey’s grocery, Swifts Canadian Co., and at the McLeod’s store, all in Melville.  In 1957 the family moved to Yorkton where Inez took employment with McLeod’s and then the Co-op Creamery.  In 1966 the family moved to Saskatoon where Inez worked for a time at a wholesale grocery company before she and Ray started their own business in 1970.  This business involved selling animal and poultry feed.  Inez kept active in sales and bookkeeping until her retirement in 1985.

Inez kept in close touch with her relatives and friends. She helped with two family reunions.   Inez and Ray greatly enjoyed traveling and especially spending their winters in Yuma, Arizona.  Inez continued to go south even after Ray’s passing and made many friends with other snowbirds. In 2003 Inez went to visit Sweden, her mother’s homeland.  She attended a cousin’s reunion, met over 80 relatives and returned again in 2006 to meet more family.

Inez was predeceased by her husband Ray in 2001, her father in 1975, her mother in 2002 and her brother Ivan Olson in 2003, as well as her brother  and sister-in-law Garth and Jean Olson and nephew Kevin Olson.    She is survived by a daughter Lynne (Bill) Kaschl, of Campbell River, B.C. , grandsons Shayne and Derek (Jodie); sister-in-law Marion Olson, Langenburg; nephews,  Jason (Amy) Olson, Darren (Tracy) Olson, niece, Arlene Shepherd, great nephews Regan, Carter, Mathew, Ben; great niece Emma, and great granddaughter, Annika.
