Kelvin Metro Borys passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at his home in Yorkton. While sudden, even this was in character for Kelvin – for if something needed to happen, there was no sense waiting around to do it.
Kelvin was born on June 19, 1950, in Yorkton, Saskatchewan and was the youngest son of Metro and Carolina Borys. He attended Yorkton Regional High School and spent the majority of his career as a machinist for Morris Rod Weeder and then later at Parkland Engine rebuilders.
However, Kelvin really never retired, and whether it was shingling, auto repair and restoration, or home building, his profession was always best described as what he was doing more of at any given time.
Kelvin enjoyed a great number of passions. Minor hockey was a key one, and whether it was building an outdoor rink in the backyard for his kids, coaching for many seasons, or following the Terriers as a season ticket holder, hockey was never far from Kelvin's thoughts.
As an avid fan of the outdoors, Kelvin loved to fish. When his family was young, he'd blend his different interests by converting old buses to camping vans and then spending summers fishing in some of Saskatchewan's hidden gems. In all he did, Kelvin loved the challenge of building things, and that included relationships. For those who knew Kelvin, he will also be remembered as a friend who prioritized making time for and spending time with people.
Kelvin is predeceased by his parents, his brother Kenneth, and sister Joyce. He will be remembered by many: his wife Pat and their sons: Colin and his wife Carrie, and their children Piper and Emmett from Altadena, California; Cory and his wife Stacy with children Grace, Caden, and Austin from De Pere, Wisconsin, and Kelly who now resides in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Also, his brother Vernon of Saltcoats and his family, Carrie-Lisa (Dennis and children Abbey, Brooke-Lyn (Gary) and Carter of Yorkton) and Jason (Kim and daughter Tatum of Yorkton); his sister Judith (Dennis) of Kelowna, BC. Kenneth's wife Frances and children Jennifer and Elizabeth of Los Angeles California, and Joyce's son Scott, his wife Angele, and their sons Matthew and Christopher. As a resident of Yorkton his entire life, Kelvin will be remembered by many friends and extended family.
