Obituary of Elsie Boychuk
The family of Elsie Boychuk of Yorkton, formerly of Melville, beloved wife of the late Gerald Boychuk, sadly announce her passing on December 29, 2023. She was 72 years of age.
Elsie was born on May 8, 1951, on a farm in the Burgis Beach District to Edward and Helen (nee Homeniuk) Kopeck. She received her education in Wesla and Poplar Springs School up until Grade 8. When she finished school, she went to work as a waitress in Canora.
Elsie married Gerald Boychuk in 1969, and they were blessed with three children: Darcy, Bradley, and Brenda. The family continued to live in Canora until 1985, when the family moved to Melville. Elsie continued to work in the service industry and truly enjoyed serving customers, and took great pride in her profession.
Over the years the family grew to include seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Elsie loved to spend time cooking and baking and made sure that no one left her place hungry or empty handed.
Elsie was predeceased by her parents Edward and Helen Kopeck; husband Gerald; brother Walter; sisters Virginia, Violet, and Victoria; and two nephews.
Elsie is lovingly remembered by her children: Darcy (Marissa), Bradley (Heidi), and Brenda (Todd); her seven grandchildren: Tyler, Cassidy, Shaneah, Kalyb, Kennedy, Tapanga, and Hermione; two great-grandchildren: Morgan and McKenzie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The Funeral Service was held on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Crystal Bailey, Certified Celebrant officiating. The inurnment followed in the Trinity Columbarium, Garden of Memories, Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Tyler and Kalyb Boychuk serving as urn bearers.
