Obituary of Margaret Korchinski
The family of Margaret Korchinski of Balcarres, sadly announce her passing on January 2, 2024. She was 81 years of age.
Margaret was born to Edward and Pearl Hart in Elfros, Saskatchewan on June 11, 1942. She grew up on her father's farm in Punnichy, Saskatchewan and graduated Punnichy High School in 1960.
In August of 1960 Margaret married Emil Korchinski. Together they had 4 boys.
In the course of her life Margaret achieved many things. Although her growing family moved many times over the years, living in nine different cities and towns, some more than once, she was always involved in the community she lived in. Margaret was active in education, sports, politics, history and museums. She volunteered at church bake sales, teas and other functions. She loved to research her family's genealogy. In her later years, Margaret helped with the Luthi House in Punnichy, and was instrumental in running the Punnichy Museum. She always loved gardening, spending much time working in her flower beds.
Margaret was always a hard worker, from her days as a girl on the farm to her time working in flower shops, photo labs, bookstores, and post offices. She taught school with her husband Emil. She also served a term as Mayor of Punnichy.
Her favourite job was always being a mother though, and later a grandmother and great grandmother. The pride she took in her family was great. She moved to Balcarres to retire near family, and spent many joyful days with her grandchildren there.
Margaret was predeceased by: Edward Hart (father), Pearl Hart (mother), Emil Korchinski (ex-husband), Mervin Hart (brother), Alice Hart (sister in-law), Glenda Korchinski (daughter in-law)
