Sarah and Becky;
My deepest, heartfelt condolences on the passing of your dad. As a young boy, Al taught me a lot about life, how to show compassion by example and how to begin to understand things I could not fathom. Your father was such an inspiration in my life -- I continue to carry the valuable lessons he taught me. (He even taught me the art of how to roll my own cigarettes after sweeping grain bins). It's also the little things; the twinkle in his eye, his smile. It was my honor to have known your dad.

Hi, Sarah and Rebecca,
Angela just told me about Uncle Al's passing and this tribute page. I wanted to say that I am deeply sorry to hear the news.
I remember Uncle Al from when we were little and at the farm. He had the most beautiful sparkling blue eyes (like Grandpa and Uncle Joe), and he was always kind and calm around us kids. I remember that he worked very hard at the farm. Rufus, his dog, was always by his side, but we were afraid of Rufus. We loved riding in the back of Uncle Al's open truck down the dirt roads around the farm - checking out crops or going from your place to the old farm house. We would sing at the top of our lungs at the same time - campfire type songs. I remember doing that with Paul, Charlene, and Angela, but it must have been before you were born or were very little.
Also, I am 100% sure the picture Angela posted is Uncle Al as Uncle Joe looked a little different! It's a great picture!
Praying for you at this difficult time.
Jennifer

Sarah and Becky,
My deepest condolences on the passing of your father. The uplifting words on death (St. Augustine) provide solace and comfort for the loss someone very close to us.
Death - based on the writing of St. Augustine
Love never ends....death is nothing.
I am only gone to a place nearby.
I am me, and you are you.
What we were for each other,
we will always be.
Call me by the name you always called me.
Talk to me like you always did,
in the same tone of voice.
Don't take on an air that's solemn or sad.
Continue to laugh at what made us laugh together.
Smile, think of me, pray for me.
Say my name at home just like before.
Life is about what it was always about.
It is what it always was.
The thread is not cut.
Why would I be out of your thoughts
just because I am out of your sight?
I am not far, just at the other side of the road.
You see, all is well.
Uncle John

Sarah and Becky,
After posting our earlier message, I found this photo of me with Grandpa John and your dad. It looks to be my fourth birthday and I'm pretty sure it's your dad to my right - although there's a small possibility it could be Uncle Joe! We all (Grandpa, Uncle Al, Uncle Joe and me) had April birthdays. Although this photo was taken before either of you were born, I thought you might enjoy it.
Thinking of you,
Angela

Our sincere condolences on the loss of your dad. We have many fond memories of Uncle Al at the farm. He was always so comfortable outdoors working hard. I also remember how much I enjoyed the smell of his tobacco when he was still smoking! As a little girl, that wasn't something I got to experience much and I thought it was very pleasant and homey. I also remember how proud he was of both of you. He so enjoyed going to your ball games and seeing how much you excelled at school.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Angela, Brent, Brendan and Elise
