Anne Yuzik

Obituary of Anne Yuzik

Anne Yuzik (Heshka) passed away peacefully on October 3, 2023 at the age of 94½ with her son and daughter lovingly by her side.

She was born in Canora, Saskatchewan on March 8, 1929 to Wasyl (Bill) and Katherine (Kate) Heshka.  Anne grew up in the Gorlitz district, attending the Poplar Springs School and receiving her Grade 8 education.  Growing up she helped with the big garden, milking cows, raising and butchering turkeys and chickens and anything else that needed to be done.  She loved school but when it came time for Grade 9, it was decided that she was needed at home to help look after her twin brothers, David and Wesley.

Anne worked as an Aide at the Yorkton Airport hospital from 1952 to 1953.  In June 1954, she married John Yuzik where they farmed near Orcadia, Saskatchewan.  They had 2 children, Rodney born in 1956 and Karen in 1959.  A farming career took over and besides raising the children, it included a huge garden, chickens and driving the combine during harvest, something she loved to do.

In 1977, after Karen left home, she worked briefly as a housekeeper at the Holiday Inn and then in the kitchen at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home.  She enjoyed this job until she retired at 65.  During this time, she also sat as a Director for the Yorkton Co-op for 19 years.

John and Anne sold the farm in 2010 and moved to a condo in Yorkton.  When John passed away in 2011, she eventually moved into the Yorkton Bentley.  Four and a half years ago she decided she wanted to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren and made the move to Regina where she lived in the independent living facility, Marian Chateau, until her passing.

She is lovingly remembered by her son, Rodney (Karen) and her daughter Karen (Rick).  Grandchildren Travis (Jenn), Brayden (Jill), Zachary (Lindsay), Vanessa (Dan) and Aaron (Nikol).  Great grandchildren Summer, Hartley and Rowan.  Brothers Ernie, David (Phyllis) and Wesley.  Sister-in-law Adeline Mohninger.  Numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her husband, John.  Parents Bill and Kate Heshka.  Brothers Steve, Harry, and Mike.  Sisters Rosie and Olga.
