Obituary of Rebecca Leah Smuk

Rebecca Leah Smuk was born on April 6, 1945 at Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was adopted at infancy by Margaret and Jacob Unger of Kleefeld, Manitoba. She received her education at Kleefeld and as a teen moved with her parents to Vanderhoof, BC. Later she joined the work force working for BC Telephones as a switch board operator.

While in Vanderhoof she met and married her first husband Don Edey. Together they adopted a son and began their family life. Shortly after, he succumbed due to a Motor Vehicle accident. Rebecca was left with the task of raising her son alone.

In 1980 she found her soulmate in Endeavour, Saskatchewan and was married to Orest Smuk and enjoyed the next 43 years.

In February of 2022, Rebecca was diagnosed with cancer and lost that battle on April 16, 2023.

She was predeceased by her parents, first husband Don and brother Rueben Unger.

Leaving to cherish her memory are her husband Orest; son Brian; grandson Andrew; granddaughter Katelyn; sister Levina and numerous nieces and nephews.
