Obituary of Walter Antonishyn
Walter Antonishyn was born on September 11, 1923 in the Ituna district. He was the son of Steve and Mary (nee Wingerak). Walter attended school until grade 10 at File Hills School. On June 1, 1951 Walter was united in marriage to Rose Mandziak at Ituna. They were blessed with three children: Beverly, Vivian and Wayne. On May 1, 1965 Walter was united in marriage to Lillian Buczulak at Ituna. They were blessed with one child: Diane. Walter's hobbies included curling, golfing, camping and a good game of cards with his friends and family, having company and those memorable occasions spent with his family. Walter was a chartered member of the Ituna and District Lions Club for 39 years. He was actively involved in many projects with this organization. Walter was also chairman of the Ituna Co-op and a member of thte Sask. Wheat Pool Committee for many years. Walter was a true farmer at heart. Even after moving into town, Walter actively farmed until this spring when his health would no longer allow it. When Walter wasn't farming, he kept himself busy in his shop. As his disease took hold of his body, his love for life, family and farm his hope never wavered. Walter was a proud man with great determination that he maintained until the end. Walter passed away peacefully on July 19, 2003 at the Regina General Hospital with his family by his side. Walter was predeceased by his wife Rose in 1961, his father in 1969, his mother in 1985, his sister Rose in 1971and his brother Joe in 1996. Walter leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 38 years, Lillian. Four children: Beverly ( Pat ) Mills of Regina, Sk., Vivian (Norman) Martin, Wayne (Susan) Antonishyn, Diane (Claire) Braden all of Ituna, Sk. Ten granchildlren: Charlene (nee Mills) (Stuart) Dawes of Saskatoon, Sk., Shane Mills of Brooks, AB, Chantel and Sheri Martin of Ituna, Sk., Angela Antonishyn of Balgonie, Sk., Jolene Antonishyn of Regina, Sk., Shaun and Kimberly Antonishyn, Bailey and Hannah Braden all of Ituna, Sk.; one great grandchild Britain Dawes of Saskatoon, Sk. Also a brother, Bronie (Zita) Antonishyn of Ituna, Sk,; a sister Helen (Ian) Anderson of Winnipeg, MB., as well as numerous nieces, nephews and his many other relatives and friends.
