Obituary of Nellie Boychuk
BOYCHUK - Nellie Boychuk passed away peacefully on Sunday February 19, 2006 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre after a battle with cancer. Nellie was 86 years of age and was born October 30, 1919 in the Insinger district, a daughter of Andrew and Oksana Biliak. She was raised on the family farm in the Insinger district and attended the Aysgarth school. As a young girl, Nellie worked on the family farm and as she got older she got her first job cooking for Zubko's farming and lumber business. Nellie then moved to Yorkton and worked for various restaurants before she obtained a job at the Yorkton Co-op, working there until her retirement. Nellie was married to Metro Boychuk at the United Church in Kamsack on September 30, 1961. They lived on the farm in the Wroxton district until moving to Yorkton. Nellie retired in the early 80's and spent time gardening and fishing with her husband until his passing on February 22, 1986. Nellie will be remembered by her friends and family as an individual who enjoyed life, plus loved meeting her friends for coffee on a daily basis. Predeceased by her infant brother John in 1920, mother Oksana in 1941, father Andrew in 1979, sisters: Mary in 1943, Dora in 1973, Kay in 1996, Annie in 2002, and brothers Ernie in 1995, and Bill in 2005. She leaves to mourn her passing a brother: Al Biliak of Yorkton and a sister: Victoria (Steve) Pacholko of Regina; niece and nephews; Curtis and Peggy Biliak of Saskatoon, Howard of Toronto, Leanne and Steve Dunn of Calgary, Gerry and Lucy Biliak of Regina, and Stuart Pacholko of Regina; as well as many other relatives and friends. The funeral service was held on Friday, February 24, 2006 from the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home, Yorkton. Mr. Eugene Mellish of the Yorkton Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses officiated. The interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Randy Pokopchuk, Stuart Pacholko , Curtis Biliak, Rod Denesik, Gerry Biliak and Merv Kirshman serving as the casket bearers. Arrangements were in care of Bailey's Funeral Home.
