Obituary of Jennie Kindiak

KINDIAK - Jennie Kindiak, resident of the Yorkton and District Nursing Home, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2006 at the age of 68 years. Jennie Kindiak was born on May 30, 1938 in the Calder district of Saskatchewan; a daughter of Metro and Annie (nee Malinowski) Wandy. She was raised on the family farm and attended the Torsk School. On November 20, 1971, Jennie was united in marriage to John Kindiak at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton. The couple farmed in the Wroxton district, but they resided in town. Jennie was very active in the community, and she was always willing to help when needed. She spent countless hours helping with the catering in the hall during community functions, weddings and anniversaries. She had a great love of bingo. Jennie also grew a large and bountiful garden each year, and she was well known for her special "cucumbers". She was a member of the Wroxton 50+ club, and at home spent time sewing, knitting and crocheting. About two years ago, her health seriously declined, and she had been constantly in and out of hospitals since that time, but her strong will and faith kept her going through the difficult days. Jennie became a resident of the Yorkton and District Nursing Home in March of this year. Predeceased by her husband John on July 22, 1991; her parents; and brothers Pete and Nick Wandy; she leaves to mourn her passing her three sons: Michael (Renee) of Wroxton, Bryan of Wroxton and Bradley of Wroxton; two granddaughters: Mackenzie and Grayson; two brothers: Mike (Emily) Wandy of Churchbridge, Bill (Diane) Wandy of Roblin, MB; two sisters: Susie Kindiak of Wroxton and Mary Boychuk of Yorkton; and a sister-in-law: Virginia Wandy of Calder; numerous nieces, nephews, and her many other relatives and friends. The prayer service was held on Thursday, September 28, 2006 from St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton. The Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Friday, September 29, 2006 from St. Mary's Church with Rev. Father Frank Szadiak C.Ss.R as celebrant. The cantor, Ed Pindus, assisted by members of St. Mary's Parish Choir, led in the singing of the responses. Emily Wandy was the epistle-reader, and Brandon Zrudlo was the crossbearer. The interment took place in the Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Jason Wandy, Tyler Kindiak, Toby Hess, Andy Kindiak, Nathan Kindiak, and Dave Zrudlo serving as the casketbearers.
