Obituary of Edith Garry
GARRY - Mrs. Edith Garry of Willowbrook, Sask. passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. She was 72 years of age. Edith was born on September 12, 1934 in the Willowbrook district of Saskatchewan; a daughter of George and Annie (nee Sturtz) Lieslar. She was raised on the family farm and received her education in this district. Edith met Lloyd Garry and they were united in marriage on October 29, 1952 at St. Andrews United Church in Yorkton. They then began their life together on the farm near Willowbrook and as well Edith worked at the COOP Creamery. In 1961 they opened Garry's General Store which they operated for several years before closing it. They continued to farm with Edith also finding employment at the A and W. After they sold the farm Edith and Lloyd retired and continued to reside in Willowbrook. Lloyd passed away in 1998 who was a part of Edith's life that could never be replaced. She lived in Willowbrook with her son Grant until she passed away. Edith was a community minded person who loved to socialize with people. She was active with the Ace High Church Organization and when her sons played ball she and Lloyd were their greatest fans following them around to many games. She loved to curl and animals, had an enormous garden, loved her family; grandchildren and her special great grandson and great granddaughter Madison and Emma and her "little peanut Jean. Her times spent at the cabin at Good Spirit and camping with family and friends filled her life with joy and her happiest time of the year was Christmas. Edith was a loving and kind woman. She leaves to cherish her memory and to celebrate her life her children: Grant of Willowbrook, SK, Glenn (Margaret) of Calgary, AB., Sandy (Bill) of Yorkton, SK. Her grandchildren: Cory (Michelle) Garry of Willowbrook, SK and their children: Madison and Emma, Lindsay (Kevin) of Yorkton, SK., Shaun, Kevin and Michael Garry of BC., Jean Garry of Calgary, AB., Tish (Matt) Shannon of Melita, MB. and their children Rachel, Clayton and Jhordan, Becky (Shane) La'perierre and their son Brendon of Boisevain, MB.; a special nephew Terry Lieslar of Warman, SK. , along with numerous nieces and nephews; a" granddaughter" Sarah Ereth of Willowbrook, SK, a daughter - in - law and mother of Cory and Lindsay, Laurie Lang of Yorkton, SK. and all of the children in the Willowbrook district who claimed Edith as their own grandmother and fondly called her "GG". Edith was predeceased by her parents; her husband Lloyd, an infant sister Shirley a brother Mervin a brother and his wife Louie and Bertha Lieslar; sisters and their husbands: Mary and Mike Oshanek, Rosie and Milt Schlichenmayer and a daughter - in - law Debbie. A service of comfort was held on Sunday evening May 6, 2007 from the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home Yorkton, SK. The funeral service was held on Monday afternoon, May 7, 2007 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Faye Greer of Westview United Church Officiating. The organist was Marilyn Newell leading the congregation in the Hymns: "Rock Of Ages" and "Amazing Grace". The reflections and remembrances of Edith's life were given by her nephew Terry Lieslar. All those who touched Edith's lfe were named as Honourary Bearers with Terry Lieslar, Dennis Nagy, Pat Liebrecht, Garnet Lang, Gerald Becker and Andy Coulter serving as Casket Bearers with the interment at the Garden of Devotion Yorkton Memorial Gardens. services directed by Bailey's Funeral Home Yorkton Dedication To Mom If tears could build a stairway And memories could build a lane, We would walk all the way to Heaven To bring you home again.
