Obituary of Pauline Simair

SIMAIR - Mrs. Pauline Simair, resident of Morris House of the Yorkton and District Nursing Home passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2008. She was 94 years of age. Pauline (LeSann) Simair was born on December 18, 1913 in the Margo district of Saskatchewan; a daughter of Yves-Marie and Anne Marie (nee Lavanant) LeSann. She was the second of two children in a family which had their beginnings in a log house with a dirt floor. She attended the Margo rural school six miles from the LeSann farm and later the Normania School. She worked with her parents on the farm in many different ways: she milked cows, helped with the harvest, cooked for the threshing crews, cleaned house, gardened, put up preserves and vegetables for the winter and many other tasks. She was known in the community to love to visit, join in community events and dances, and helping where she could. On November 19, 1939 she married Joseph Simair of Springside, SK at the St. Helena Church in Kuroki. They made their home on the family farm four miles north of Springside. They lived with his family (mother, five sisters and one brother). They lived there until 1947 and then bought their own farm located three miles north of the Simair family farm. Joe and Pauline retired from the farm in July of 1972 and moved to Yorkton. They travelled many years in the winter to Phoenix, Arizona to be with their daughter Germaine and spent many summers camping in their trailer with friends and family in Saskatchewan. A couple years following the death of Joe, Pauline moved into Queen Elizabeth Court, where she made many friends and had many memorable times playing cards, playing in the 'Fun Band', going on tours, curling and later on watching curling, and her favorite program TV 'Pokorama'. She travelled with family and friends to places like France, the Maritimes, Toronto, Yukon, British Columbia, and the United States. She was very grateful for being able to have visited once more with her very dear cousin Annick Leon and her family members from France in the past two years during their visits to Canada. Pauline leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her memory: her four children: Germaine Simair of Yorkton, Gerald (Evelyn) Simair of Toronto, Paulette (Joe) Campbell of Prince Albert, and Simone (Ken) Diduch of Yorkton; and is dearly remembered by eight grandchildren: Darcy Simair of Toronto, Chloe (John) DeLucca of Toronto, Cheze-Marie (Shawn) Morgan of Toronto, Branden Simair of Toronto, Alison Campbell of Prince Albert, Craig (Terri-Lee Oleniuk) Campbell of Calgary, Monique Diduch (Stephen Kowalchuk) of Yorkton, and Keith Diduch of Regina. In Toronto she is also survived by five great grandchildren: Shayne, Shawn-Mathew and Shamys Morgan, Anjelique DeLucca, and Liam (Peterson) Simair. Pauline's family was her life and focus and they benefited greatly from her love. Pauline was predeceased by her husband Joseph (Joe) on May 18, 1985; a brother Allan LeSann in 1971; her parents Yves-Marie on January 21, 1964 and Anne Marie on November 18, 1974; and by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
