Obituary of Marie Stumph
Mrs. Marie Stumph of the Saltcoats district, beloved wife of Jack passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre at the age 87 years. Marie was born on September 2, 1921 near Rhein Sask; a daughter of Fred and Molly ( Nee Unsinger) Stricker. She was Baptised in the Lutheran Faith on November 17, 1921 and confirmed on April 5th. 1936 by Reverend George Senft. Marie received her education at Rhein. On November 5, 1939 Marie was united in marriage to Jack Stumph. This union was blessed with three children: Shirley, Leonard and Laverne. Marie and Jack farmed together in the Saltcoats district. Marie was a faithful member of her church and attended on a regular basis. She enjoyed taking care of her garden and flowers and when she was younger did a lot of baby sitting. While working with her husband, Marie helped with the outdoor chores including looking after the animals and chickens. Marie and Jack did most of their work together looking after what had to be done. During times of leisure she enjoyed going to the river with Jack to fish. As a hobby and work; Marie baked, sewed, knitted and would can the vegetables that she grew in the garden. As she became older her health began to fail and she had to cut down on a lot of her work. It was then that Jack helped a lot in the garden. Jack was the love of her life and they have celebrated over 68 years of marriage. Marie leaves to cherish her memory and to celebrate her life her husband Jack. Her children: Shirley (Ed Wintonyk) Leonard (Heather) daughter - in law: Joyce; grandchildren: Jaclyn, Cheryl (Steve), Catherine (Darcy), Cindy, Owen. Sherry (David), Brent ( Carol) and Terry (Ellen). Her great grandchildren: Cassandra, Joshua, Kendra, Christan, Matthew, Michael, Jasmine, Aleisha, Tate, Jerett, Tannyn and a great great grandson Jayden.She also leaves her sisters: Pauline Leis, Annie Stumph, Lenore Retco, Josephine Robertus; brothers: Emanuel, John, Rheinhold and Clarence Stricker. Marie was predeceased by her parents Fred and Mollie Stricker; her son Laverne; brothers: Alex, David, Henry, Fred, Jack and sisters: Adeline and Amalia A service of comfort was held for family and freinds on Thursday evening, September 11, 2008 from the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home Yorkton, Sask. The funeral service was held on Friday afternoon, September 12, 2008 from Zion Lutheran Church Yorkton, Sask. with Pastor Daniel Moeller officiating. Verna Liebrecht was the organist leading the congregation in the Hymns: "Lord, Take My Hand And Lead Me", "How Great Thou Art" and "Safe In The Arms Of Jesus". The interment followed in the Garden of St. Mark, Yorkton Memorial Gardens with: Peter Oystrick, Ed Lutz, Derryle Rothenburger, Owen, Dennis and Stanley Stumph serving as Casket Bearers service directed by Bailey's Funeral Home Yorkton When I am gone release me, Let me go… I have so many things to see and do You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears Be happy that we had this many years I gave you my love, you can only guess How much you gave to me in happiness I thank you for the love you each have shown But now It's time I travelled on alone So grieve a while for me if you must Then let your grief be comforted with trust It's only for a while that we must part So bless the memories within your heart I won't be far away, for life goes on; so if you need me. Call and I will come Though you can't see me, or touch me, I'll be near And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear All of my love around you soft and clear And then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and say "Welcome Home" Service Information
