Obituary of Alice Wlock
WLOCK - Mrs. Alice Wlock, beloved wife of Tom Wlock of the Yorkton district entered eternal rest on Tuesday, October 15, 2008 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre following a sudden illness. She was 77 years of age. Alice Elizabeth Wlock was born on September 28, 1931 in the Beaverdale district of Saskatchewan; a daughter of William and Annie (nee Kahoot) Krunick. She was raised on the family farm and attended Rocky Dell School as well as helping on the farm. On July 15, 1951 she was united in marriage to Thomas Wlock. The couple established their own farm east of Yorkton, working very hard to ensure a successful farming operation. Alice greatly enjoyed her family, her grandchildren, nieces and nephews and friends. Alice was very active in the community, being involved with the Tonkin Ladies Curling Club and the Yorkton Horticultural Society. She also kept very busy with her gardening, winning many awards for her flowers and vegetables. She took great pride in her home, and made good use of her bountiful garden with her canning and cooking skills. Her spare moments were taken up with many sewing projects. Alice was also a sports fan, cheering hard for her beloved Roughriders. Predeceased by her parents, William and Annie, and by her brother Mervin Krunick. She leaves to cherish her memory and mourn her passing her husband Thomas; daughter Gloria and her husband Leigh Canham of Regina, grandchildren Robin (Kirk Nordick), and Drew, also of Regina; and son Mitchell (on the farm near Yorkton). Also a sister, Iris and her husband Harvey Polegi of Jedburgh; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Rosary prayers were held Tuesday, October 21st with St. Mary's parishioners leading the rosary and Glen Tymiak serving as lay presider. Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Wednesday, October 22nd, at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Yorkton with Very Rev. Peter Pidskalny, C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant . The responses were led Ed Pindus, Colette Karapita & Parish Choir Members. Assisting as altar server was Zachary Kias. The crossbearer was Jesse Hiduk and the epistle reader was Peggy Polegi. the interment follwoed in the Garden of St. Luke at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Tim Polegi, Trevor Polegi, Martin Wlock, Bernie Wlock, Kirk Screpnek and Emil Benko serving as the casket bearers. Vichnaya Pamyat! Eternal Memory! Memorial donations in Alice's name may be made to St. Mary's Church Building Fund or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
