Obituary of Anne Kunetsky

KUNETSKY - Mrs. Anne Kunetsky, resident of the Jubilee Home passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2008. She was 87 years of age. Anne Kunetsky was born on July 13, 1921 in the Whitesand district of Saskatchewan; a daughter of John and Mary (nee Byblow) Pawliw. Anne was raised on the farm and attended school in the Whitesand district. On February 5, 1944 she was united in marriage to Mike Kunetsky at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Yorkton. The couple farmed in the Yorkton and Canora districts for many years, until later in life when they sold their farm and moved into Yorkton. Anne was in every sense of the word a true pioneer, she always had a huge garden, was a tremendous cook, and spent many hours a day doing whatever needed to be done on the farm. Anne enjoyed the companionship of family and friends. She was especially fond of all her nieces and nephews. Anne had a great sense of humor, she enjoyed bowling and especially a good game of cribbage. Anne spent the last five years in the Jubilee Home in Lloydminster. Here she received excellent care and was loved by all the staff. Predeceased by her husband Mike on January 2, 2004; her parents; brothers Mike, Bill, Peter, Dan and Nick Pawliw; and by sisters Maggie Spilchen and Pauline Kunetsky. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and her many other relatives and friends. The family would like to extend a thank-you to all the staff at the Jubilee Home in Lloydminster and a special thank you to Alayne and Tara, who were truly Anne's angels. The funeral service was held on Friday, January 2, 2009 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Faye Greer of Westview United Church officiating. Hymns played were Peace in the Valley and In the Garden. The interment took place in the Garden of St. Mark with Brian & Lynn McLean, Dan & Brenda McLean, and David and Brad Kunetsky serving as the casketbearers.
