Obituary of Evelyn Werschler

WERSCHLER - Mrs. Evelyn Werschler, resident of the Langenburg Centennial Special Care Home, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2009. She was 95 years of age. Evelyn Eva Werschler was born in Neudorf, SK on July 16, 1913 to Michael & Elizabeth Yahnke (nee Wirth). She was the eldest of 14 children. Evelyn was baptised on August 2, 1913 and confirmed on April 10, 1927. Evelyn attended Prairie School in Neudorf to Grade 8. She then helped her parents on the farm until her marriage to Frank Alfred Werschler of the MacNutt area on September 27, 1936. There, they settled and farmed on Frank's parent's home place and raised their 4 children. In 1967-1968 they bought and managed their own cafe in Balgonie, SK and also farmed. Although they enjoyed the challenge and all the new people they met in Balgonie, they found the long hours were more than they had expected. They returned to the farm until they decided to sell and move to Yorkton, SK in 1974. There, they became involved with their new church - Zion Lutheran. Evelyn even joined the work force and was employed by SIGN. They enjoyed their new community and all the new friends they found. For the last 12 years, Evelyn lived at Queen Elizabeth Court in Yorkton until November, 2008, when she moved to Centennial Special Care Home in Langenburg, SK until her death. Evelyn's main passions in her life were her Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ; her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and all of the many friends she acquired over the years. She has left a legacy of faith and love to all who knew her. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents; her dear Husband- Frank (1999); Daughter-Geraldine (1999); Grandson-Todd Werschler (1994); Brothers- Edward, Reinhold, Ernest and John Yanke; Sisters- Gladys Kitsch and Iris Miller. She has left to celebrate her life; Daughters: June (John) Wagner, Janeth Deibert, Son: Elmer (Connie); Grandchildren: Raymond (Susan) Wagner, Clarence (Irene) Wagner, Darla (Lex) Langston, Larry (Pam) Wagner, Valerie(Ron) Mihalicz; Troy (Esther) Deibert, Greg(Debbie) Deibert, Burke (Allison) Deibert; Michelle (Harley) Pistun, Jason (Adella) Roeddecke, Clinton (Myrna) Roeddecke; Cory (Ian) Bugera, Jody (Dave) Cinfio. Great- grandchildren: Jerrod, Kelly Wagner; Derek, Kurt, Kimberly Jory; Dayne, Daylan Wagner; Brooke, Braden Mihalicz; Ari, Danika, Astrid Deibert; Jenna, Kira Deibert; Rebecca, Melissa, Victoria Roeddecke; Hunter, Shelby Roeddecke; Courtney, Calin Bugera; Justice Todd Cinfio. Brothers: Victor (Marion); Verdon (Carol) Yanke. Sisters: Ruth Schick; Pearl (Bill) Danchuk; Edna Olm; Vera (Kenneth) Andrews; Aradine (Bill) Smetaniuk. Brother-in-law: Walter Miller, and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held on Saturday, January 24, 2009 from Zion Lutheran Church in Yorkton with Rev. Daniel G, Moeller officiating. Granddaughter Cory Bugera gave a tribute. Organist, Grace Dressler led the congregation in the singing of the hymns 'God Loves Me dearly', 'How Great Thou Art', 'I'm But A Stranger Here', and 'Jesus, Saviour, Pilot Me'. Special music was provided by Heaven Bound (Joanne Roulston, Elmer & Connie Werschler), singing 'In Christ Alone.' Jody Cinfio was an honorary bearer as were all those touched by Evelyn's life. The interment took place in the Garden of St. Mark at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Raymond Wagner, Troy Deibert, Michelle Pistun, Cory Bugera, David Graff and Brian Kitsch seving as the casketbearers.
