Obituary of Cecilia Denesik

DENESIK - Cecilia Denesik, resident of Yorkton, entered into eternal rest on March 5, 2009. She was 73 years of age. Cecilia was born on March 6, 1935 to Fred and Eva (nee Essar) Bilokrely in the Sheho District. She attended the Deer Creek & Sheho schools. Cecilia married John J. Denesik on July 18, 1954. The couple settled on the farm in the Insinger District. They farmed from 1954- 1994. During that time the couple moved several times: In 1963 they moved to Arran Saskatchewan, in 1968 to Kelliher, in 1969 to Buchanan, in 1976 to Insinger and in 1994 to Springside to enjoy their retirement. In 1996 Cecilia moved to Yorkton where she continued to live until her untimely passing. Cecilia was an active member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Ladies Aid in Arran, Buchanan & Insinger. In her spare time Cecilia took great pride in her large gardens and the many flowerbeds that beautified her home. She also loved to read and spend time with family and friends. She took great enjoyment in cooking a large meal for them all and no one left her home hungry. Predeceased by her husband John in 1994, her parents: father Fred in 2000 and mother Eva in 2007. Cecilia leaves to celebrate and rejoice in her memory her two children: son Rodney (Rhea) of Yorkton; daughter, Bev Denesik of Saskatoon. Grandchildren: Tyrel Denesik of Saskatoon, Tania Denesik (Ian Johnsrude) of Toronto, ON. Brothers: Harold (Ruth) Bilokrely of Winnipeg, Barry (Ivy) Bilokrely of Sheho. Uncles: Alex (Eleanor) Bilokrely of St. Paul, AB, John Kosowan of Huntsville, ON. Aunts: Beth Essar & Lena Bilokrely of Toronto. Close friends, Iona, Billy & Kaleigh Baraniuk of Sheho & Isabel Windjack of Yorkton; numerous nieces, nephews and the many friends and family that knew and loved her. Prayers were said on Monday evening, March 9, 2009 from the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home, Yorkton. Funeral services were held on Tuesday morning, March 10, 2009 from Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Sheho with Very Rev. Father Mel Slashinsky officiating. The cantor was Katie Rudey, assisted by parish choir members. Crossbearer was Kyle Rusnak, bannerbearers were Dean Slowski and Kelly Rusnak. The interment took place in the Parish Cemetery with Adam Essar, Jason Bilokrely, Billy Baraniuk, William Denesik, Michael Hawreliuk, Norm Varga, Rick Berlayden and Randy Slowski serving as the casketbearers. Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.
