Obituary of Gloria Husack

HUSACK - Gloria Husack, wife of William of Calder, passed away suddenly on Friday, March 6, 2009 at her home. She was 75 years of age. Gloria Phyllis Husack was born on September 11, 1933 in the Calder district of Saskatchewan; a daughter of Katie (nee Kohut) and Metro Balabuk. She was raised on the farm and attended the Minerva School. On October 28, 1952 she was united in marriage to William Husack. The couple farmed in the district, moving into Calder in 1952, where they had since resided. While in Calder, William and Gloria operated the Coffee Mug Café. And following that, Gloria worked as a waitress in the Calder Hotel for many years. Gloria loved doing arts and crafts, and tending to a large garden during the summer months. She also did a lot of cooking and catering for community functions. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Predeceased by her parents, Metro and Katie; and by a son Dale in 2008. She leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her memory her husband William of Calder; son Glen (Wendy Nugent) and Kelly & Erin, all of Regina; two brothers: Arnold (Marlene) Balabuk of Calder, and Emil Balabuck of Winnipeg, as well as her many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Faye Greer of Westview United Church officiating. Organist, Amanda Buhler led the congregation in the singing of the hymns In the Garden and Amazing Grace. The interment took place in the Garden of Gethsemene with Terry Husack, Carl Kohut, Tony Calanchie, Brian Dietrich, Gordon Kahut and Kevin Balabuck serving as the casketbearers.
