John was raised on the family farm and attended the Ituna School. At age 19 (1959) he began his working years doing construction projects with Walter Mazden, where he was employed until 1968. In that year he began farming, a career which spanned 35 years until retirement. On September 30, 1972 John was united in marriage to Gail Mitchell in Saskatoon. During his many farming years John also took on construction work in the area, helping with projects as the arena, the curling rink, and the Ituna Beauty & Floral building, as well as numerous houses in Ituna and district. Life is a challenge...meet it, Life is a gift...accept it, Life is an adventure...dare it, Life is a sorrow...overcome it, Life is a tragedy...face it, Life is a duty...perform it, Life is a game...play it, Life is a mystery...unfold it, Life is a song...sing it, Life is an opportunity...take it, Life is a journey...complete it, Life is a promise...fulfill it, Life is a beauty...praise it, Life is a struggle...fight it, Life is a goal...achieve it, Life is a puzzle...solve it. Regan's Tribute - my name is Regan and I would like to tell you a little bit about my Grandpa. All of us kids have special memories of Grandpa and I am going to share some of them with you. My Grandpa loved puzzles. I would always want to help him, but what good could a four year old do to a 5000 piece puzzle! So Grandpa went out and got me a puzzle, a 10 piece Bob the Builder puzzle. I loved that puzzle. One Christmas, we got Grandpa a big brown furry hat, when he put it on, we all couldn't help but laugh because it looked like he had a huge squirrel on his head. One year, Paige and I made picture frames for Grandma and Grandpa. When they put them up, they put mine right behind Grandpa's chair and Paige's over by the couch. Obviously he wanted to see my face more than Paige's. When Grandma and Grandpa lived on the farm, they had a tractor, a big tractor! Grandpa would always take us for rides, it was so much fun! Whenever we came to visit Grandma and Grandpa, Grandpa would always be waiting in his chair with a huge smile on his face! We all love Grandpa and we will really miss him. Service Information
