Obituary of Sadie Robinson

ROBINSON - Mrs. Sadie Robinson, of the Regina Lutheran Home, formerly of Ituna, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2009. She was 94 years of age. Sadie was born on July 8, 1915 on the family farm in the Ituna district of Saskatchewan; a daughter of James and Mary (nee Hynds) Martin. As a young girl, Sadie attended the Beaverside School. In November of 1938 she was united in marriage to Bill Robinson. The couple farmed in the Beaverside district until moving to Ituna in the fall of 1958. When the family moved into Ituna, Sadie began working at the Ituna Union Hospital as an assistant cook and continued to work there until her retirement in 1977. During her years in Ituna, Sadie was actively involved with the Lakeside UCW and the Ituna Union Hospital Auxiliary. Sadie was an avid baker all her life. Retirement offered her the opportunity to have more time to devote to this hobby and she always made sure that she had plenty of sweets on hand to share with friends and family over a cup of red Rose tea. She enjoyed a number of bus trips to Canada & the United States. In later years she fondly recalled the details of those trips and was glad she was able to take them. Sadie was devoted to and proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a strong and resilient person who approached life with a very positive attitude. Following the passing of her husband Bill in 1981, Sadie continued to live in Ituna until the fall of 1994, when she moved to Regina. In 1995 Sadie became a resident of Faith Baptist Place, where she resided until October of 2008, when she became a resident of the Regina Lutheran Home.
