Obituary of John Anthony

ANTHONY - Mr. John Anthony of Winnipeg entered eternal rest on November 25, 2009 at the age of 79 years. John was born February 7th, 1930 at MacNutt, Saskatchewan. He was the son of John and Anne (nee Shewchuk) Anthony. He was raised on the family farm and attended school in the MacNutt district. John spent most of his lifetime working in Winnipeg. His work history included: working as a porter on the CN train; selling Watkins products; salesman for Nutty Club and Vacuum Cleaners; and his last career was a Truck Driver for Carlings Beer Company in Winnipeg from which he retired. He built his home and resided on an acreage in West St. Paul, Manitoba. John was a faithful parishioner of Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Ivan Suchavsky, also serving as palamar there. John remained a member of St. Mary's Greek Orthodox Church, MacNutt district and St. Elia Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Wroxton. He leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish his memory his sister Mary (Anthony) Perpeluk (William) of Yorkton; his brother Alexander Anthony (Cynthia) of Kelowna, BC as well as numerous nieces and nephews; many good friends, relatives and neighbors. John was predeceased by his father and mother; brothers Mike, Bill and Jimmy and an infant sister Elsie. Prayers were held on Tuesday, December 1st. at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. The funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 2nd at St. Elia Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Wroxton with Rev. Father Patrick Powalinsky officiating. The responses were led by Gerald Yaholnitsky & parish choir members. The crossbearer was Cody Pilipow. The interment took place in family plot at St. Mary's Parish Cemetery in the MacNutt district with Andrew Antony, Alexander Anthony, Dave Perpeluk, Mike Pilipow, Mark Lloyd and Gerald Tycholis serving as casket bearers. Following the reception, Tom Antony expressed words of appreciation on behalf of the family. Funeral arrangements were in care of Bailey's Funeral Home. Interment Details
