Obituary of Richard Allan Meszaros
MESZAROS - Richard Allan Meszaros, the only son of Joseph and Ann (nee Feshak) Meszaros was born on June 7, 1948. Richard grew up and received his education in Yorkton. Upon leaving school he worked at Midtown Motors in Yorkton, then moved on to Melville Motors as a partsman. On June 15, 1968 he joined the Yorkton Fire Department. During his 26 year career with the fire department he earned the rank of Lieutenant and was instrumental in raising money for the burn unit in Saskatoon. During his career he received an exemplary medal from Her Honour Lt. Governor Sylvia Fedoruk. In addition to his work with the Fire Department Richard also operated an insulating and renovation business. After retirement he worked for Sunspun Foods, as well as continuing his renovation business. Richard's pastimes included restoring old cars, going to car shows, collecting so called "quality merchandise" and antiques. Another of his passions was spending time with his granddaughter Hailey and tinkering with grandson Brent. Richard passed away at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre following a lengthy illness in the early morning hours of Thursday, January 28, 2010. He was 61 years of age. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Ann. He leaves to mourn his memory his partner Terry; his sons Neil and Trent of Yorkton; daughter Kim and husband Chris Moellenhoff of New Ulm. His beloved grandchildren: Brent, Breana, Jaydin, Hailey, Mitch, Jessica and Jade. Also Terry's son David and girlfriend Twyla of Yorkton; her daughter Angella and partner Mitch of Yorkton. He also leaves to mourn his memory his only sister Vivian Acherlay of Victoria, B.C. The funeral service was held on Saturday, January 30, 2010 from Westview United Church in Yorkton with Faye L. Greer officiating. Reflections & remembrances were give by son Neil and by family friend Margaret Cugnet. The organist, Marilyn Newell led members of the church choir and the congregation in the singing of the hymns Rock of Ages and Amazing Grace. Members of the Yorkton Firefighters Detachment attended, formed and honour guard and were pallbearers for Richard. Cremation will take place at the Yorkton Memorials Gardens Crematorium with the interment in the Garden of St. John at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.
