Obituary of Zenon Musey

MUSEY - Mr. Zenon Musey of Yorkton, SK, husband of Ann, passed away suddenly May 1, 2010 at the family farm at Phone Hill. Zenon was born on May 16, 1932 at Hubbard, SK, oldest child of Emil and Annie (nee Flinta). He grew up working on the farm. Over the years he worked at various jobs off the farm as well. Zenon married Ann Washezko on November 24, 1959. They farmed in the Hubbard district until 1965 when they moved to the Phone Hill farm, where they lived until 1994. They then moved to Yorkton. They continued keeping busy with their Bed & Breakfast. During his farming years, Zenon also worked for Morris Industries, Leon's Manufacturing, plus others as a welder. He was mechanically inclined and kept his and some of his neighbor's machinery and motors going long after the rest of us thought it was mission impossible. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom picking, dancing and a mean game of Troika. Zenon was a member of Jaroslaw Church and St. Mary's Church. He was a member of Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood. He spent many evenings perched on that stool, coat checking at the Cultural Centre. He helped gather pussy willows for Palm Sundays and he also ushered at Divine Liturgies. He leaves to mourn, his wife Ann of fifty years, his mother Annie Musyj; five children: Angela Blaylock of St. Brieux, SK, Natalie Prybylski (Marty Shura) of Fort McMurray, AB, Terry (Holly) Musey of Prince George, BC, Naomi Musey of Regina and Lucy (Stephen Lashta) of Fort McMurray, AB. Nine grandchildren; James and Jeff Blaylock, Jordan Glasman, John (Amber), Chad, Adrian Prybylski, Nicole Musey and Mark and Ginette Lashta; sister, Gladys (Russell) Smysniuk, brother, John (Elaine) Musyj and sister-in-law, Shirley Musyj as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Zenon was predeceased by his father Emil Musyj; his brother Eugene Musyj and son-in-law Ron Blaylock. Prayer Service was held on Thursday, May 6th following the Holy Rosary which was led by Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood members. Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Friday, May 7th, at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Yorkton with Rev. Father Vladimir Kolpakov, C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant. The responses were led by Ed Pindus, Colette Karapita & Parish Choir Members. The crossbearer was Ginette Lashta and the candlebearers were Jordan Glasman & Jennifer Van Caeseele. The epistle reader was Angela Blaylock. Members of the Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood served in an honour guard. Serving as casket bearers were James Blaylock, Jeff Blaylock, John Prybylski, Chad Prybylski, Adrian Prybylski and Mark Lashta. The cremation interment took place at Yorkton City Cemetery.
