Obituary of Walter Lezon
LEZON - Mr. Walter Lezon of Yorkton, beloved husband of Doreen Lezon passed away on June 4, 2010 at age 72 years. Walter Charles Lezon was born on November 22, 1937 in Fenwood, Saskatchewan to Mary and John Lezon. The oldest son in a family of 6 children he attended Folkstone School in Jedburgh, SK. until grade 8. He worked in Calgary with his brother Eddie for awhile. He married Doreen (Spilchen) in 1962 and they farmed in Jedburgh until 1979 raising their 3 children: Linda, Johnny and Brenda. Following the sale of the farm in Jedburgh, Walter farmed in Hamton for about 20 years. He also ran Walter Lezon Construction building bins. His family remembers building bins together and his "Big Truck". His grandkids remember spending a lot of time with him growing up. He would drive them out to the family farms to visit cousins, treat them to "Dickie Dee" ice cream and spoil them at the corner store by his home. They laughingly recall how he would snap each dollar bill as he took it out of his wallet. Walter had a passion for collecting old farm machinery and automobiles. He enjoyed reading western novels and watching wrestling on T.V. He was also and avid animal lover, especially his dogs. He never went anywhere without his beloved pooch, "Bam, Bam". He was predeceased by his mother Mary (Mahalia), and his father John. Two of his sisters, Elsie (Christopher) of Vancouver, BC. and Irene (Zanni) of Regina, SK. Brother-in-laws, Chris Christopher of Vancouver, BC., Henry Lesiuk of Monmarte, SK. and Emilo Zanni of Regina, SK. He is survived by his wife of Yorkton, Brother Eddie (Mary) Lezon of Pilot Butte, Sk., sisters Loretta (Tom) Kreklewich of Pilot Butte, SK, and Jeanette Lesiuk of Monmarte, SK. His son, Johnny, daughters, Linda (Ron) Kerr, and Brenda Weatherby, all of Yorkton. Grandson, Christopher (Chelsey) Kerr of Brandon, MB. Granddaughters, Terrie (Adam Littman) Kerr of Saltcoats, SK. and Kellee Kerr of Yorkton. Two new and special great granddaughters Marissa Kerr and Emma Littman, Great grand-dogs, Skipper, Teah, Hannah and Bear, as well as numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, June 11th, at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Father Ray Lukie, C.Ss.R. of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church officiating. Cantor, Ed Pindus and members of the Parish Choir led in the singing of the responses. Ron Kerr and John Lezon were named honorary bearers. The interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Chris Kerr, Dennis Zanni, Reno Zanni, Allan Tymko, Walter Spilchen and Johnny Kucharski serving as casket bearers. Memorials in Walter's name may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society. Condolences to the family may be emailed to baileysfuneralhome@sasktel.net Eternal Memory!
