Obituary of Letticia Melnyk
MELNYK - Letticia Mae Melnyk was born on May 24, 1927 in the Fort Francis - Rainy River district of Ontario, one of eight children born to George and Susie Scott. Letticia met her husband, Bert, at Emo Hospital while he was a patient there and she, an LPN, cared for him. They were married August 3, 1948 and celebrated 58 years of life together before Bert passed away in 2006. They had lived in many places before retiring to farm in Welwyn in 1984 where they raised cattle and grew hay. Letticia loved living on the farm, being the chief household engineer and helping Bert when she could. She always put Bert and her families needs and wants ahead of her own as she was a very unselfish and giving person. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, sharing stories, being outside working in the yard and garden, bowling, cross country skiing around the farm, sketching, doing crossword/word puzzles, knitting and lending a hand at church and community functions. She often claimed that she was very happy and appreciative that she had an interesting and good life. Following a short illness, Letticia passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at the Southeast Integrated Care Centre in Moosomin, Sk with her daughters by her side. She was 83 years of age. Predeceased by her husband Bert on August 26, 2006; her parents; George & Susie; son-in-law Robert Dowswell, and by two brothers, Gordon and Dale. Eight grandchildren: Pamela, Leva, Jonathon, Tineke, Melissa, Sara, Daniel and Matthew; four great grandchildren: Brett, Bennett, Chase and Devon.
