Obituary of Alvina Pakosh

PAKOSH - Mrs. Alvina Pakosh, beloved wife of the late Ed Pakosh of Yorkton, formerly of Mikado passed away July 19, 2010. She was 81 years of age. Alvina was born on August 12, 1928 in Hyas, Saskatchewan to parents Stefan and Lillie (Keller) Toffan. Alvina attended Elbow Lake School and after went to Hyas School for her high school grades. Alvina then left for Winnipeg, Manitoba, along with their cousin Ann Toffan, where they both had jobs and shared an apartment. After this she went back home and met and married Edward Pakosh on October 22, 1949. They lived on the old Pakosh homestead, near Mikado for many years. Alvina was a very busy farm wife, always growing a huge garden, busy cooking and taking out lunch to the fields, where Edward worked the land. Alvina enjoyed farm life and having family living near her. The coffee pot was always on and lovely meals were cooked for family and friends. Alvina and Edward retired in 1995 and moved to Yorkton, Saskatchewan. After Ed passed away in 1999, Alvina stayed on in her home and then moved to a nursing home in 2004. Alvina was predeceased by her parents Stefan "Steve" and Lillie (nee Keller) Toffan, husband Edward, niece Karen and Karen's son Patrick, Azoria's husband George Wilkes, brother George, sister Katie Danyluk and John Danyluk, brother John Toffan, Lena Toffan and Florence Toffan. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory her twin sister Azoria Wilkes (with whom she had a special bond) and Azoria's family; sister-in-law Verna Toffan (William) and her family; sister Katie's family and brother John's family, and many other relatives and friends. Alvina will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, August 14th at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Mr. Jerry Kreba of the Yorkton Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses officiating. The interment followed in the Garden of St. Mark at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Jan Wilkes serving as the urn bearer. Memorials in memory of Alvina may be made to the Yorkton & District Nursing Home or a Charity of Choice.
