Obituary of Nellie Pawelec

PAWELEC - Mrs. Nellie Pawelec, formerly of Kelliher entered eternal rest on July 23, 2010 at the Balcarres Integrated Health Centre. She was 94 years of age. Nellie was born on November 26, 1915 in the Model Farm District, the daughter of Joe and Ann (nee Kachur) Kobialko. As a young girl she worked at a neighbors helping out with chores. Nellie and her sister Mary went into the bush and cut wood, hauling it to sell in town. On February 25, 1933, Nellie was united in marriage to Walter Pawelec at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Ituna. Together they farmed in the West Bend District until 1968 when they retired to Kelliher. She baby-sat for different families, and enjoyed her garden and flowers. She loved her family and enjoyed watching her grandchildren as they grew. She treasured her visits with children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Nellie was predeceased by her husband Walter, her parents, three sisters, six brothers, grandson Corey, son-in- law, Chris. She leaves to mourn her passing, son Joe (Kathy) Pawelec of Kelliher, two daughters, Stella Richter of Regina and Dorothy (Willie) Maksymowich of Kelliher, thirteen grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 9 great- great grandchildren. Prayer Service was held on Tuesday, July 27th and the Funeral Mass on Wednesday, July 28th at St. Vladimir's Catholic Church, Kelliher with Rev. Father J. Pat Murphy as the Celebrant. Taylor deGooijer was the altarserver and Bryan Wilson was the cross bearer. The organist Sarah Wilson accompanied members of the Community Choir led in the singing of the hymns. The readers were Charlotte Wilson and Lee Peeler. Kathy Pawelec led in the General Intercessions. Serving as the Gift Bearers were Alicia & Tanner Bowden and Mitch Blight. The eulogy was presented by Denise Bowden. All Nellie's friends from Kelliher and Balcarres Integrated Care Centre were considered honorary pallbearers. The interment followed in Kelliher Memorial Gardens with Gerald Pawelec, Darrell Murphy, Scott Murphy, Reg Murphy, Rick Murphy, Ken Green and Joshua Pawelec serving as the casket bearers. Memorials in memory of Nellie may be made to Balcarres Integrated Health Centre.
