Obituary of Marie Rusnak
RUSNAK - Mrs. Marie Rusnak of Yorkton, widow of Bill Rusnak passed away on August 1, 2010 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre at the age of 75 years. Marie Rusnak was born August 26, 1934 in Manitoba, the daughter of Sylvester and Rose (nee Lungal). They resided in Blue Wing, Manitoba. In 1952, when Marie was 18, she moved away from home. She worked on various farms around Roblin and Shell Valley, Manitoba. Sometime later she moved to Waterford, Ontario and worked in a Motel there. Marie then returned home for a year and worked in Shell Valley area, Roblin and later Russell, Manitoba. Marie moved to farm near Saltcoats, Saskatchewan where she worked for Tom and Maggie Rusnak. That is when she met William Rusnak (he was known to many as "Bill"). They were married November 22, 1958. William and Marie farmed for many years before they sold the farm and moved to Yorkton. William passed away in 1997. Marie loved to cook...... For many Family Christmas gatherings we would see a spread of food with over 10 different dishes ........ If you were hungry when you left it was your own darn fault cause there was always food to galore. Many times we'd go for a visit and come home with bags of frozen cabbage rolls, beet rolls and perogies. Because she loved to cook, her deepfreeze was always full. It always put a huge smile on her face to be able to send her children home with her baking. Her love of family was very strong. With 5 children, 9 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren she held them all dear to her heart. She would call on each birthday or anniversary of each one. She can remember so many details of precious times of her grandchildren's lives. Unfortunately, this year, Marie had more complications with Diabetes and she passed away leaving behind her wonderful memories for us to cherish. She leaves to mourn her passing, five children Lyle (Linda) of Regina, Doris (fiancé Peter Macek) of Yorkton, Tom (Donna) of Salmon Arm, BC, Don (fiancé Jody Lang) of Yorkton and Larry of Yorkton; nine grandchildren Mitchell, Kimberly, Kolby, Brady, Vivian, Brendt, Clinton, Darcy & Nathanial and twelve great grandchildren, Vivian Gianni, Sophia, Brendt, Isabella, Olivia, Clinton, Riley, Kiera, Darcy, Makahla and Elise. We love you Marie and will miss you dearly. You will always remain in our heart and thoughts. Prayers were held on Sunday, August 8th and the Funeral Service on Monday, August 9th at Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Yorkton with Very Rev. Father Mel Slashinsky officiating.
