Obituary of Nellie Kolodzinski

KOLODZINSKI - Nellie Kolodzinski was born on November 10, 1928 in the Ituna district of Saskatchewan; a daughter of Steve and Justine (nee Schabel) Tymiak. She was raised on the family farm and attended school in the district. As a young woman, Nellie remained at home to help on the farm. On April 25, 1960 she was united in marriage to Anthony (Tony) Kolodzinski at Yorkton. Following their marriage the couple farmed and raised their family in the district north-west of Lestock. In 1984, Tony passed away. Following that time, Nellie stayed on the farm until 1998, at which time she moved into Lestock. At the time of her passing Nellie had been a resident of St. Joseph's Integrated Care Centre, where she passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 10, 2010. Nellie was a very friendly, outgoing individual who always took time for others. Family and friends could never leave her home without a big meal being served. She was a true gardener, taking in bountiful vegetables each fall. Her perogy dough will be fondly remembered by all. She greatly enjoyed socializing with her family and friends, always favouring them with her baking (especially her cinnamon buns and home made doughnuts). During her years on the farm, Nellie worked alongside Tony in all aspects of farming life. She especially enjoyed the times she spent working with the neighbour ladies raising and processing chickens. She was affectionately known as 'BABA' to the many children that she cared for over the years. Besides her husband Tony, she was predeceased by her sister Anne Yanko, and her brother Alex Tymiak. She is survived by her two sons: John of Regina, and Paul (Gayle) of Chilliwack, BC; one daughter: Molly (Rick) Englund of Lestock. Grandchildren: Denton & Leiland; Shannon; and Montana, Arianna, Teyana & Richard. Also two sisters: Katie Glowa of Fenwood and Mary Tymiak of Ituna, and numerous nieces, nephews, and her many other relatives and friends. Prayer services were held on Sunday evening, August 15, 2010 from St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Wynyard and the funeral service was held on Monday, August 16, 2010 from St. Mary's Church with Very Rev. Father Mel Slashinsky officiating. Cantor, Gerald Yaholnitsky led in the singing of the responses. The crossbearer was Teyana Englund. The interment took place in the Wynyard Cemetery with Mervin and Donald Bashutski, Leiland and Denton Kolodzinski, Perry Keep and Frank Ricci serving as the casketbearers.
