Obituary of Ned Pisiak
PISIAK - Mr. Ned Pisiak, beloved husband of Susan passed away on September 13th, 2010, (his 86th birthday) at Weber House Care Home in Yorkton. Hnat "Ned" Pisiak and his twin sister, Tillie were born on September 13th, 1924 in the Rhodes District near Ethelbert, Manitoba, to Nicholas and Matrona (Medwid) Pisiak. They joined Mike and Steve, and were soon followed by Allie, Adam, Victor and Carol. Ned attended Rhodes School but at age 16, he left home and went with his brother Steve to Saskatoon, where he found work on a mink ranch. The Bessborough Hotel was his next stop, however the Armed Forces came calling but a charming young lady by the name of Sophia Zawada attracted his attention in Dauphin. So after a year of dating, on July 12, 1947 in St. Mary's Church in Yorkton, they began a wonderful marriage of 63 years. Shortly after, they left Dauphin and moved to Yorkton, where baking became Ned's passion. In 1955, he changed jobs and began to work at Dairy Producers, from which he retired in 1985. The Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood, the Father Delaere Knights of Columbus Council and Brother Stanislaus Assembly were very important to him. He served both organizations with devotion and passion. He also was very devoted to his parish and Church. Ned's health took a turn for the worst in February, 2010. Ned was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Matrona; brothers - Mike, Steve, Adam and Victor; in-laws Nick and Nettie Zawada, Marion Pisiak, Peter and Annie Dombroski, Alex and Bernice Zawada, Del Dunlop, Lena Zawada, Orest Gnazdowsky, Mike Witroway and George Rogers.
