Obituary of William Rusnak

RUSNAK - Mr. William Rusnak of Insinger passed away on September 21, 2010 at the Regina General Hospital at the age of 77 years. William Nicholas Rusnak, known to everyone as "Bill" was born January 1, 1933 on his grandfather's homestead near Insinger, Saskatchewan. He was the oldest son of Nick and Polly Rusnak. Bill was raised on the family farm near Insinger and received his education at Aysgarth School. He farmed with his father until he retired and then took over the farm himself. Bill was united in marriage to Sophia Finnuk on February 27, 1971 at the Holy Ghost Church in Insinger. The couple resided on the family farm and raised their family, a son Brian and daughter Sonya. Bill semi-retired from farming in 2005 and fully retired in 2009. Bill spent many years of enjoying carpentry work, spending time gardening especially in his raspberry and Saskatoon patches, enjoyed playing a friendly game of cards, curling, spending time with family, friends and neighbours and especially his grandchildren, Rylan and Jadyn. Bill spent his remaining few days in Regina General Hospital where he passed away September 21, 2010 at the age of 77 years. Bill was predeceased by his parents Nick and Polly, his beloved wife Sophia in 2007. He is survived by son Brian (friend Jennifer) of Insinger, daughter Sonya (Alan) Butuk of Insinger, grandson Rylan and grandaughter Jadyn. Brothers: John (Violet) Rusnak of Salmon Arm, BC, Alec (Sally) Rusnak of Bonnyville, AB and many nephews and wonderful friends. Prayers were held on Friday, September 24th and the Funeral Service on Saturday, September 25th at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Sheho, Saskatchewan with Very Rev. Father Mel Slashinsky officiating. The responses were led Gerald Yaholnitsky and parish choir members. The cross bearer was Dave Snatinsky and the banner bearers were Joe Moldowan and Ted Starchuk. The interment followed in Holy Ghost Parish Cemetery, Insinger with Wayne Lysak, Fred Butuk, Jeff Zuchkan, Barry Koshman, Orville Clarke and John Butuk serving as the casket bearers. Memorials in memory of William may be made to the Theodore ABC Day Care, Holy Ghost Church, Insinger or a charity of choice.
