McDonald - James McDonald of Melville, Saskatchewan entered his eternal rest on Friday, September 24, 2010 at St. Peter's Hospital at the age of 83 years. James was born on January 6, 1927 in Melville, Saskatchewan, a son to Lesley and Mildred (nee Pete) McDonald. James received his education at the Central School in Melville. After his schooling he moved to Toronto to join the army but that did not work out so he worked at odd jobs. While in Toronto he met Anita Stewart and was united in marriage on August 3, 1947. In 1952 the couple moved to Melville where James started his employment with the CNR, first as brakeman retiring in 1985 as conductor. James was a member of the Army & Navy in Melville. He enjoyed watching TV, bowling, coaching baseball and hockey in his younger years and visiting with family and friends. On November 7, 2002 Anita passed away and James continued to reside in his own home. Predeceased by his parents, Lesley and Mildred; his wife Anita; son Gary and brother Mervin. James leaves to cherish his memory his son Craig (Brenda) of Regina; grandchildren Sean (Renne), Charlene and Tavia; six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; three brothers Dick (Verda) of Brandon, MB, Dave (Jan) of Dauphin, MB and Bud (Gay) of Ottawa, ON. A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home in Melville with Pastor David Taylor officiating. Organist was Nora Cochrane and the urn bearer was Craig McDonald. The interment followed in the Melville Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements were by Bailey's Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
