Obituary of Emilie Myer

MYER - On Sept. 24, 2010 Emilie peacefully passed on at the Theodore Health Center after a brief illness, at the age of 87 years. Amelia (Emilie) Barbara Myer was born on May 15, 1923 at Lemberg, Sask. She was daughter to Jacob and Matilda (nee Kohlert) Lubachowski. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Lemberg and attended school there. She grew up with a love of skating and spent a lot of time at the local rink. When she got a little older she went to work at Grandma Kohlert's after school. She worked very hard there. On Nov. 19, 1942 she was united in marriage to Fred Myer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lemberg. Following their marriage they farmed in the HIll Farm district. Fred and Emilie were known for being parents to more than just their three girls. For years they took care of foster children and were mentors to other children in need. They even won a Foster Parent Award, presented to them by Dwain Lingenfelter for their years of devotion. Fred and Emilie spent hours playing cards with family and friends. There was many a weekend spent at Grandma and Grandpa Lubachowski's big oak table playing into the wee hours. Fred and Emilie retired and moved to Yorkton in 1975, where she took great pride in her gardening and her new home. Emilie really enjoyed her time with her grandchildren, they were a huge part of her life. She was extremely proud of each and every one of them, and she showed this by always telling everyone about their accomplishments. She never tired of bragging about them, and thoroughly enjoyed all the drop-in visits and one on one time she had with them.
