Obituary of Carole Merriman

MERRIMAN - Carole Ann Merriman was born in Deloraine, Manitoba on August 9th, 1946 to Howard and June Williams. She grew up in Broom Hill with younger sister Sharon and younger brother Bryon. She attended Broom Hill One Room Public School from grades 1-8 and then went on to graduate from high school in Reston. She excelled in school and graduated top of the class, receiving a scholarship for Physio Therapy. She ended up taking Business Administration Courses in Saskatoon and then went on to work in Yorkton at AVCO Finance, Canada Trust and Northern Motors. It is in Yorkton where she met Barry her future husband and on January 14, 1970 gave birth to their only child Michael. The family settled in Springside where Michael attended his primary years of school. Carole worked in various administrative positions in and around Springside including book keeping with Merriman Bros Construction, partner with Barry Construction Ltd doing jobs for the City of Yorkton and as Administrator for the Town of Springside. She also had her own business 'Carole's Boutique' in Springside. She then worked as District Sales Manager for AVON CANADA from 1986 up until the mid nineties. For almost the past decade Carole found success in real estate and at the time of her death was working for Sutton Group - Results Realty Inc. in the Agricultural Division. She also continued her entrepreneurial spirit in forming a partnership with Clearside Construction. She always contributed to the community from involvement in the Lioness Club (she was one of the founding members), Springside Recreation and Minor Sports, Cooperative Board for Small Business Loans to being the chairperson for the Heritage Place Saskatchewan Housing Board for ten years. As Carole was never shy to get involved in community service, she even ran provincially for the Liberals in the Canora constituency. She enjoyed being 'Grandma' to Michael and his wife Sarah's twin children Keara and Keagan. Carole's ventures in work were never viewed as work, she simply enjoyed everything she did. Carole was an avid reader, an early morning riser, loved her yard work, and most of all clearly valued her family and friends. Carole leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Barry; son Michael (Sarah) of Wilcox, Sk and their twins Keagan & Keara; her father & mother, Howard and June Williams; her sister, Sharon Clark of Fort Qu'Appelle and children Joseph (Ashley) Clark and Alana (Stephen) Lindal; her brother Bryon (Debby) Williams of Rivers, MB and children Chris (Tyler), Rob (Dawna), Brooke & Taylor; and numerous other relatives and friends. The memorial service for Carole was held on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at the Springside cemetery with Crystal Bailey, funeral celebrant, and Michael Merriman, Carole's son officiating.
